Just listened to about an hour of Sean Carroll on JRE Podcast. They were discussing the many worlds theory and I couldn’t understand what the frick they were going on about and better yet why.

They kept going on about infinite copies of myself and every time I made a decision the world split. But it doesn’t split. When I made that decision the world that would have been created with the other choice ceases to exist.

Please educate me.

It's possible that there are many worlds. But then again it's possible that there aren't.

All of the extra worlds are theoretical so you can ignore them.

Then what’s the point of this whole theory? What are they aiming to accomplish?

Some theorize that every decision you make splits to a different universe

The DMT elves told me that this is what happens.

I don't know if I believe them, but I don't disbelieve them, either.

It’s based on the theoretical concept of a “speed force.” Basically, let’s say a person can reach a speed so fast, and with so much force, that this reality is literally torn (since space-time is a square circle). When this reality we are in (or which we perceive ourselves in) is torn in the slightest, we would be able to glimpse into the paradigm of an adjacent reality heretofore never seen in this which we live. Now turn that glimpse into actual entry. The person enters a new paradigm reality, a new space-time which was always there but never seen. The tear will instantly close, preserving the necessary square circle. Thus, both realities are now changed. This could happen infinite times—creating “Many Worlds”.

Hope that helps.

I’m sorry you’re not smart.

But the thing is, it doesn’t impact you in any way. You can never react with that other you

There are also some that the universe is so vast that every possible outcome exists somewhere - our known / visible universe is just a tiny speck in the foam.

Which i guess may more or less be the same thing, because in a theoretical sense, if that is the case, time doesn't matter because if your decisions don't matter in the broad overhead view if all outcomes / decisions exist somewhere, so the timing / flow of time also wouldn't matter or truly exist beyond our perception - again in that specific scenario.

I like Sean Carroll and enjoy his JRE podcast episodes, but his speaking cadence is so annoying.
