US + Europe < China....

cut US "emissions" to zero and you cut a little over 10% of world "pollution"

and you cant go to zero since CO2 is considered a green house gas. Since every animal on the planet exhales CO2....

From 1989:

LINK

"Entire civilizations wiped out by the year 2000"

quote:

A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000. Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of ?eco- refugees,' ' threatening political chaos, said Noel Brown, director of the New York office of the U.N. Environment Program, or UNEP. He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control. As the warming melts polar icecaps, ocean levels will rise by up to three feet, enough to cover the Maldives and other flat island nations, Brown told The Associated Press in an interview on Wednesday. Coastal regions will be inundated; one-sixth of Bangladesh could be flooded, displacing a fourth of its 90 million people. A fifth of Egypt’s arable land in the Nile Delta would be flooded, cutting off its food supply, according to a joint UNEP and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency study.

I'm too dumb to understand climate change, but I am 100% in the Malthusian camp that we will not have the energy to be running industrial civilization by that point.

More of the same reports. It's not saying we'll all be dead by 2050. Just that if we don't do anything by 2050 we'll be royally fricked by 2100. Pretty much the same thing that's been said for years.

ETA: the actual report not the clickbait article.

With the way civilization has been declining in recent years due to mental illness being allowed to run rampant, I for one welcome the apocalypse.

As with most things, the truth is in the middle.

Civilization isn't going to end in 12 years or 50 years. But those who think it's no big deal and nothing at all to worry about are just as naive as those who think the world will end in 50 years.

The truth...it's in the middle.

AOC said we had 12 years, or something.

No, she cited a study that said 12 years until cc effects were irreversible.

No, 12 years until no mater what actions we take catastrophic cc effects will take hold. At least if you believe this particular study.

If you want to criticize the study that’s fine but at least be accurate about what was said. That’s not too much to ask, is it?
