This is the video I watched.

If the officer engages him hand to hand and the guy reaches for the officer's gun, this might end with someone getting shot. The dog ended things in a fast, non-lethal way.

Dude popped the officer in the face and was squared up for more. You can even see the officer say something before he turns to get the dog, which I'd bet was offering a last chance to chill and get cuffed without the dog.

dude hit cop. cops job is to put him under control by any means at that point.

I am being serious. I can't express how much I love watching when police let their k9 loose on someone.

How can you even question that? Look, if a cop comes up to you and you just punch him in the face.. There will be a response. I am not all pro-police (like anything else, I realize there are good and bad police and at times police will misuse their power, etc, etc), but you assault a cop, there will be more coming than handcuffing and them making an arrest.
