Cops don't serve no-knocks on just anyone and randomly, they had reason to do this. I'm incredibly surprised that if the guy they were after lived with family they did this though it's a recipe for a disaster. But no-knocks are for dangerous guys, so I doubt this dangerous guy was living with completely innocent family members.

frick whoever downvoted me. A good man who wanted nothing more than to help his fellow man is dead because of NOT being able to execute a no-knock warrant.

There's definitely a need for no-knock warrants IMO. I think they should be a last resort option for arresting dangerous suspects when a less risky arrest method isn't available.

IMO it isn't worth the risk to officers to serve no-knocks for drug searches or as a go-to arrest method for the majority of arrest warrants. Stake out the houses and get these assholes when they're exposed rather than sending officers into a dangerous situation.

Unfortunately the war on drugs has created a paradigm within law enforcement where high risk no-knocks must be carried out as a matter of every day routine in order to preserve drug evidence. The populace and politicians that push the war on drugs can go frick themselves for getting hundreds or thousands of officers killed just to stop druggies from flushing crack down the toilet after realizing the police are outside.


ETA: Forgot to mention that everybody thinking he'll win some massive civil case is quite mistaken. You people realize that acquittals happen every day and defendants don't just get paid off right? The police had a valid warrant and probable cause for the arrest after he shot three of them. If a judge didn't set a bond then good luck trying to sue the court for not having a bond set when you're charged with three counts of attempted murder.

I find it odd that the greater majority of you posted on the B-quick shooting in a positive and gracious way. The officers shot in this search warrant were doing the same thing. Serving their city, state, and country. I mean, for Christ sake the mans relative was using his residence as a avenue for his dope selling business. You sell drugs you'll eventually get found out, have the cops run up on you in a violent fashion, and possibly change the lives around you. Case in point. All goes back to doing the right thing. Don't sell or do drugs in or around your relatives house and you won't have relatives shooting at cops thinking their home is being invaded.

Considering the source, I'm sure the officers announced their presence as they were executing their no knock.
