Pretty doggone cool story. That sort of motivates me to finally update my address on my license. Because I would get screwed in this story, as I have moved a couple of times since then.

Realized I'd left my wallet and phone in my vehicle, unlocked. Walked back to where I'd parked and there's a guy standing there holding my wallet. He waves it at me and says, "dropped something?" and tells me my wallet was laying on the ground. I check and all of my credit cards are there, so I think nothing of it. Later that day I go to pay for something, pull out a couple of one$ and realize he'd taken $300 in cash.

A couple of months ago, a guy next to me at the self checkout at Walmart walked out and left his phone on the POS unit. I grabbed it and chased him down and returned the phone. He thanked me and said it was “a $1000 mistake” to have left it there.

I've posted this on TD before:
My vehicle was stolen from the curb on front of my house. The thieves tossed my brief case a couple blocks from my house. Some early morning joggers found it and turned it in to the local fire house. That morning the fire fighters pulled up in front my house in the big red truck and returned it. I WAS VERY GLAD TO GET IT BACK.
I no longer leave stuff in my vehicle.

Me and some buddies found Mewelde Moore’s CD case on the side of the street in the French Quarter right around the time he got drafted. It had a bunch of burned CDs and a bank receipt with the account and pin # written on it.
We were dumb seniors in high school and the next morning we momentarily entertained the idea of a quick payday, but we sobered up came to our senses . We looked up his mom’s address and dropped it off to his brother.

yes they are. one time i dropped my wallet in the parking lot of a small town grocery store. someone figured out who were my parents were and called and left a voice mail for me to pick it up. another time my debit card was dropped in the parking lot of a lowes. someone found it, turned it into customer service and they managed to find my phone number again.
i'd do the same if i have the opportunity.

Years ago, there was a horrible tornado that hit Brandon Ms Several weeks later I was at my land walking around and started noticing pieces of white siding in the trees and on the ground. Happened to walk up on a purse that had DL, cash, and credit cards. I mailed it back to her address hoping she survived. Brandon is close to 45 miles from my property.

Last spring I was riding my bike in my neighborhood when out of he corner of my eye I saw something that looked like a cell phone as I went through a curve. I turned around and went back. When I did I saw a credit card lying in the street...then another...a $10 bill...then an iphone. It had a phone case that doubled as a wallet. The screen was a bit cracked, but otherwise worked. I figured someone must have put the phone on their trunk/top of car then forgot about it when they drove off. Luckily, in the wallet was the owner's drivers license. I looked at the addressed and noticed it was in my neighborhood (though I had never met this particular person). I gathered all the stuff and rode to her house to return it.
After knocking for what seemed like 5 minutes some chick (easily in her early 30's and the person whose picture was in the license) opens the door looking either completely stoned, drunk or both. I introduce myself. Tell her I live down the street and that I found her phone/wallet lying in the street as I was riding my bike. I hand everything to her and her response is simply "Oh...OK." That's it! After a pause I hop back on my bike and leave.
Now, I wasn't expecting her to shower me with lavish praises or offer me a BJ as a thanks for returning her belongings (though both would have been appropriate responses). But she didn't even give a simple "Thank you." I pick up your phone, credit cards, cash, license, etc. to keep them from getting run over by a car and destroyed (which would have absolutely happened eventually because they were in the middle of the road). Make an effort to stop what I'm doing, locate your house and return it to you. In response you act like I'm fricking bothering you and can't even give a simple thank you?
I should have taken that bitch's card...bought myself dinner, and searched her phone for nudes.

When I was in college at SELU circa early to mid 90s I was jogging around campus. I came across a wallet and stopped to pick it up. Just as I was about to touch the damned thing it took off across the street.
Bunch of guys sitting outside the Theta Xi house had tied a fishing line to it and were pranking people. Those bastards were laughing their asses off at my expense.
I gave them a thumbs up and couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Later I laughed my arse off telling people about it.
To this day I don’t even grab my own wallet without looking around first to see who may be hiding in the kitchen ready to yank that bad boy from my grasp.

Was it stolen? How does someone misplace a vehicle?
It was stolen a week prior. I grew up in government housing. The patch of woods was just outside our neighborhood. I imagine one of the hoodlums stole it and left it there

In 2002 the wif and I went to the LSU Florida game in Gainesville. The hotel we stayed at (Ramada) was the Gator team hotel as well. The night before the game we were driving back from dinner and the wif yelled to stop, that there was money in the parking lot. It was a few loose bills, and an open envelope with more cash. The total was a bit over $350 (no joke). The envelope also had the voter ID card of the Gators wide receiver coach, so it was obviously some walking around money for the players.
When I got home I contacted the Gator athletic office and they gave me an address to mail the envelope. What was sweet was Mauck and LSU had trounced Florida 36-7. So I wrote "Geaux Tigers" and "36-7" all over the envelopes. The WR coach was cool about it. He mailed a football signed by most of their staff and key players. And a fancy calligraphy letter of thanks.
Two weeks later he was fired, along with Zook and the rest of the coaching staff.

My son lost his iPhone in a snow bank about two weeks ago while at college in Wisconsin Someone found it , brought it to an at&t store. Store looked up serial number and found our account and tracked us down. Lady left and did not leave contact info. After 10 days in the snow, phone works perfectly fine. Wallet still missing
