My wife and I were actually up there at the time this took place. We were going to take a tour on that very boat you see in the video in the link, but we could see it was very dark to the west of the Rivera (the brick building), so we opted to take a tour a couple of hours later. We decided to walk about 4 blocks north to a brewery that is in an old church, where we stop off when we go up there in the winter for the annual ice sculpture weekend. We got about 2 blocks and I could see down the block a sheet of rain coming. I said I don't think we are going to make the church. About 30 seconds later, it just dumped and the wind picked up. Luckily, we were under an awning in front of a tap room. We went inside with a few others. The west facing wall had those large garage style doors that were all glass. I have not seen wind gust like that since a hurricane. Then a red light started blinking, that was the tornado siren. Water was being blown in under the door. It was crazy. After it finally subsided, I joked with my wife we should go check on the car. We walked outside and it was like all hell broke loose. Branches, limbs, broken trees, etc...Sirens all over the place. .
We then heard about the accident on the lake. There were a few news helicopters flying over. It is a very sad story. NWS said there were 90-100 mph downburst.
We did end up taking a tour a couple of hours later. The wealth on that lake is unreal. Wrigley family seems to have the most property. One home is 27k sf with a 27 car garage and a stainless steel swimming pool on the roof of the garage.
The main road to get out was closed due to leaning power lines.

My Dad, 87, still says icebox from time to time.
Congrats to you. I am 61 and can't wait to pull the trigger. Been at my company 30 years, wife (no pics, 58 yr old Scandinavian from MN) has been with same company for 29. That is how we met. We just had a meeting with the financial advisor a couple of weeks ago and we technically could do it now. Mortgage will be paid off in 3 years, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. I used to love what I do, now with changes and a new manager I hate, I no longer enjoy it and hate that the final years of my career will end this way.
I see, and make fun of myself with so many of those commercials.
This may get a lot of downvotes, but I really do not like Werewolves of London nor Blinded by the light. I turn both of those off immediately.
I just made 30 in February. I was given a link to choose from. Value is 150 at best. Still haven’t picked anything as nothing stands out that would say “that is what I got for my 30th”. A JBL speaker or cat tower just doesn’t do it for me. I don’t even remember what I chose for my 25 or 20. Not long ago, for 25 years we had the quarter century club. Company would fly everyone celebrating that year, and their spouse for a weekend in Boston. Sox game, tour, nice dinner, now a link

raking leaves in the fall. I'll easily do 80-100 bags a weekend for 3-4 straight weekends.
I don’t mind cutting the grass, it takes about 2 hours including edging sidewalk and weedwacking, but I hate raking leaves with a passion. I rather shovel snow. As soon as you get the yard clean, the leaves fall so quickly you can’t sit back and enjoy like after cutting the grass.

Next time just bring a bag of dryer lint

exactly what I was going to say. We have done a ton of camping. I have a bag by our dryer and just add dryer lint to it over time. Add some twigs to it, then the larger sticks, it gets going in no time.
I don't read much, but when I do I enjoy non fiction books. I have been interested in learning more about him and his role in the Gulf Coast area, beyond the Battle of New Orleans.
I see many listed on here that I would list as well. But I will add to the list, one that I will listen to beginning to end fairly often. A great debut album:

August and Everything After - Counting Crows
My daughter’s (no pics you dogs) birthday as well. Willie was my first convert. New Year’s Eve show in Houston when that was an annual thing

Does anyone know if this cookbook was ever released. All of the links, or if i typed in silmermooncookbook.com are no longer working. I would be interested in this as I went there a few times back in the 80's as a student and the food was awesome.
My daughter (no pics you dogs) is graduating from ISU in two weeks, guess I'll just miss her.
bumping from page 19

my 'fail' is i don't have one to post, but getting this back for those that do because I do enjoy viewing them

i was a student there at the time, so I have to go with this. Fun times for sure.
Do you know what was going on in their marriage? Was there still a connection or were they just going through the motions and staying together for kids or convenience. Perhaps that would lead someone to seek companionship sooner than others. Really not for others to judge
I had 3 removed from my backyard last fall. The looked great, provided us with great shade, but they broke easily and it was time to get rid of them. The neighborhood we live in had them lining the entire street and they looked beautiful in the spring, but they are fragile and apparently invasive. Local nurseries no longer carry them up here (I am in Illinois, unfortunately)
TN is trying every which way to give this game away and UVA can’t take it
I have been to the Purdue campus a few times for job fairs, the students I interacted with all seemed like typical students at any other campus. The campus is nice. The graduates I know are all good people
