Now if it’s a regular occurrence, especially if it’s more than just a hookup, then I would agree that one should be able to figure that out much more easily after some time.

As someone who had a GF cheat on me, there are changes in behavior/personality that you pick up on. Your bones just feel it. It's one of those things you can't explain to someone else. Hopefully it never happens to someone twice in a later relationship but the second time you'd be able to call them out immediately.
It's like a poker tell or something.
