Read four pages hoping there would be some kind of explanation of how this happened but just got a bunch of:
- muh Russia
- muh DEI
- muh dad jokes (first one was good)
- muh 30A
Still have no idea how this happened.

MedMal cases are typically a bitch to litigate, especially in Florida, but this is as slam dunk as it gets. Holy Hell! Prayers for his widow and family.
That hospital needs to be sued into insolvency and that doctor needs to be penniless and in prison.

The hospital knew he has done this before
Wouldn’t a lawyer say frick going after malpractice and go after the hospital for intentional harm?

As a MD, my DO colleagues trained in the same residencies. Took the same exams, passed the same boards.
The difference was their 4 year medical education, which most of them took the same step exams too and likely had to do as well if not better than me.
So the stigma that they're inferior is misplaced.
This was just a shitty surgeon who likely didn't review his ct imaging if that was his excuse.

That'd be the smart strategy and probably the easier route.

Yeh for a surgeon, wouldn’t the residency program be the only thing that “matters” really? I know there’s over simplifying it but it seems the 1000s of hours in surgery practice are what really matter and not the textbook class instruction from when they were 22-26

My daughter has 1 friend in med school and 2 in DO school. They're all working their asses off.
My husbands gp died … guy who took over his practice is a DO. We’ve been happy so far.
I’m not sure what the difference in the four year training prior to residency is but it can’t be easy!

It really is, I would take an issue like this on a case by case basis looking at the individual, and not vilify an entire group.

How is it possible that not one of the OR nurses / assistants didn't say "Bro, are you sure that's not his liver?" when this happened?

a DO being a GP is a lot different than putting a scalpel in the hands of a DO

Dr Thomas J. Shaknovsky is an American general surgeon who attended Loyola University for his undergraduate degree. He received his medical degree from Midwestern in Downers Grove, Illinois and completed general surgery residency at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey.
During his sophomore year of college, Dr Shaknovsky joined he U.S Army. Several military training exercises on Florida’s Emerald Coast led to him getting fond of the region. He remains a Major in the U.S. Army.
This helps to confirm my long-held belief that military doctors above the rank of captain are generally quacks.
I once had a Lt. Col. diagnose my dislocated shoulder as “bursitis”.

I would caution blindly taking the word of a plaintiff attorney as gold. Typically the facts of the case aren’t as egregious as initially portrayed. In fact, I wonder if there is some question of sanctions regarding the attorney for putting out a video and calling for his privileges at other hospital to be pulled.
