No one fishing alone in a neighborhood pond is “getting obnoxious”

Ehh. We've had people with speakers blaring music, trash, etc. at our ponds. It's fairly common. There are also days when the weather is nice in which there are several vehicles parked in the street or at our mailboxes blocking access.

It bothers me, but not enough to cause a scene. I worry more about having people who don't live in our neighborhood walking around the ponds and having access to people's backyards and such.

Drunk with his kids in his truck... Proof that money buys neither wisdom nor class.

When he got out of the truck, Red Shirt Baw should have taken him down and introduced him to some mud and concrete. Maybe the shock and embarrassment of getting his drunk arse whipped in front of his kids would be enough to straighten him out (probably not, but worth a shot).

I figured it could go a little south,

You could hear his kids crying in the backseat of his truck towards the end of the video. Why traumatize them like that? Terrible.

Hearing a child scream in pure terror as their parent is involved in a (physical) altercation is one of the worst, most heartbreaking sounds in the world.

Maybe I'm soft but nothing hits me harder than hearing a child scream out in pure fear. It's the absolute worst.

Drunk baw is lucky he didn't get shot pulling that stunt. The homeowner would've been within his rights to defend himself, I think.

So you know both of them well enough personally to dictate which one is crazy or not??

Well one of them was drunk as frick in the middle of the work day with his children in the car going pedal to the metal through a grass lot. Pretty good bet he's crazy.

Yep.

Obviously I wasn't there and can't comment on what actually happened. But speaking from experience as someone who has lived neighborhoods with private ponds, non-residents showing up and just fishing at their leisure is a common occurrence. They will park in people's yards, block half of the road, become obnoxious while fishing, etc. And RARELY do they just leave when confronted. Best case scenario they just lie and say a resident gave them permission. Worst case they get combative at a resident who has the "audacity" question them about fishing on private property.

The right ingredients for a big blow up is an a-hole resident who thinks he/she is supercop of the neighborhood combined with a trespasser with an FU attitude.

Yeah the entitlement of people to roll up into a neighborhood and start fishing pisses me off. I live in a neighborhood with ponds and this happens quite a bit. They park their cars in the street, leave trash around the ponds, and usually speed down the neighborhood streets. All while basically standing in someone's backyard who paid extra $$ to have the view and access to the water.

So I get why this dude was pissed. He took it a little farther than I would have though

Yeah, but those guys were fishing and didn’t belong in this exclusive Walker neighborhood!

This guy was drunk in the middle of the day and speeding around with his kids. He’s absolutely in the wrong.

White privilege is being able to drunkenly assault a stranger and tear up your neighbors yard and it being equated to fishing on community property.

I know you're getting a lot of downvotes but that is a true statement. We never truly know what happens before any videos start recording. Dude might have acted worst that what we see. People start videos after then say a lot of stuff. They seldom record what would be damning evidence against themselves. Dude looks like he might have had a couple adult beverages.

Of all the fights that are caught on camera daily, why is this a television news story?

Because the drunk guy said the N-word and the black guy was calm and relatively well spoken. It's the media's wet dream to show a racist white guy harassing a civilized black man.

In this case I don't even care about any of that. The drunk guy was way out of line and he needs to be called out. He will be ruined financially and socially. He will probably have to move his family if his wife doesn't divorce him over this. There's no way he can recover from this. His business is toast. His reputation is toast. His wife and kids will face embarrassment and ridicule for a long time. His best bet is to go to rehab and then move out of Louisiana
