He basically did what refineries do

Not exactly, however this is very similar to the process of Coking, except he didn’t distill the vapors to separate out the resulting hydrocarbon streams.

Also the solids left behind are probably not coke quality, but who knows

Why the hell hasn't heavy investment into the scalability of this being made?

This would solve two huge global problems and the only guy working on it is doing it in his backyard?? What am I missing

ETA: apparently it already is, and an industrial level, and it scalabe.

I figured our guy Daniel here on TD wasn't the first person to think of this.

Interdasting.

Several years ago my buddy's little girl asked him where plastic came from. When he didn't know she wisely stated that Mr. tidalmouse would know.

When he called I said petroleum.

Thanks for experiment.

You may want to bubble the off gas through ammonia water. I think that process gives off phosgene.

Cool. You turned finished product back into a component of its original raw material. Be neat if you could construct a rudimentary distillation column and collect the different cuts and the off gas.

Doesn’t seem like much oil was recovered for the amount of material heated up. Interesting experiment nevertheless

The system was compromised by the blowout.
I'm not going to judge.
I nearly killed myself when I was eight, 3 different ways.
1. Electricity, repair. Knocked myself up against the opposite wall.
2. Opening a bullet.
3. Ordinary crossing traffic dumbassery.

But the op is an adult.
