The news showed some houses burning 3-4 blocks away. JPL would be a massive impact.

Those astronauts that NASA stranded in the space station could kiss any chance of ever coming home goodbye.

That's fine. But what you're seeing on the PT board is active cheering on of the devastation and that's just pathetic. There are posters that want this to happen. It isn't funny and God help them if they're truly serious about it. That's why I think the Woods video is important because we typically love him on the PT so we're seeing one of our own that is actively suffering. It could provide some perspective and a moment for self reflection. In other words, just being human.

Much appreciated.

There's still insurance available, it's just more expensive and might require a bit more effort to find.

I've heard that it can be expensive to the level of being completely unaffordable and impractical. Basically people in those situations are just SOL financially and just have to roll the dice on having an uninsured home

Yeah, used to work at JPL so watching this very closely. Fire is now about 2 miles from my old house.

I wouldn't say that I'm numb to the fires we've experience out here but it is shocking for me when I head up into the mountains to go to the lakes and all you see is the fallout from our big wildfire from 2020:

I've seen photos from the area of The Big Burn back in 1910 and the forest is only now back to how it appeared back then around St. Paul Pass.

Pictures from the 40s show the mountains still fairly denuded 30 years later.

Yes. It's decimating Altadena with Pasadena next up if the winds don't start to calm. Which they're supposed to around about now.

ETA: Malibu along PCH is getting hit right now.

Sounds like a new fire just broke out in Soledad Canyon; area is sparsely populated but it just popped up.

The Eaton fire may end being the worse of the two if the winds don't calm down. These are much more densely populate areas than Pacific Palisades.

JPL is right where Pasadena and Altadena meet in the foothills. Would be insane if that goes up

Thanks Legend. We are a settled in our hotel. And so tired, I just ordered a grilled chicken salad with no lettuce. Got the craziest look from the cashier. Took me a minute to figure out why.

Don't those size fires create their own winds? So much heat and huge updrafts that air comes rushing in to replace it in the form of wind.
