we can still expect a lot of moisture to be sucked into the east coast.

Yup. But that's a lot better than 100 MPH winds and a storm surge..........

The eastern seaboard beaches are about to get battered.

Media was hyping up Isabel last night. Showing all this footage that had been edited 100 times over to make it look so bad. Still remember watching it live and TWC guys were standing by the boardwalk freaking out trying to stand and walk against the wind. Gusts were in the 40's. Showed the extreme flooding and it must of been 2 inches of water with wind blown ripples going across the roads.

Uhhhh.....

See how there's nothing but blue around the storm. This has the potential to "bomb out" (rapid pressure drop) into the evening. It hopefully won't, but the storm is as "pretty" as it has been right now.

I don't like that picture for a couple reasons...

1)Dat eye. Nice and completely surrounded...

2)No dry air to tear it apart. It almost looks like the storm itself is moistening its environment.

3)Lots of deep warm water to feed off of.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a cat 5 by morning. Wherever this thing hits (hopefully nowhere) destruction will follow.

Yea, this looks to be making a run at Cat 5. Recon will be in the storm this evening and it will be interesting for sure. Long Island in the Bahamas is just hammered right now.

NHC finally coming back to reality and siding with the EURO. It is sad that this country no longer has a credible weather model. Thanks Obama

The dark stuff still hasn't quite wrapped around the eye. It might look a little misshapen for a few minutes here but once it builds in the NW it will look like a textbook picture of a hurricane.

IMHO of course.

You can also see it starting to feel the weakness that will eventually turn it north. It's spreading out to the NW.

So experts, am I wrong to think about this like a heat exchanger? More surface area means you can transfer more energy. Since there's no apparent deficit in available energy, heat transfer should increase in the form of a pressure drop. Right idea?

The mayor of ocean city Maryland just ordered mandatory evacuation beginning at midnight tonight. They want everybody off the island by 5:00am tomorrow. They are expecting 5' storm surge. No link on local radio.

I have paid no attention to this storm. What are the odds this thing hits Massachusetts and I get to throw a hurricane party?

It doesn't look like it will make landfall anywhere. It is just gonna pump a ton of rain into the Carolinas and mid Atlantic this weekend. That's my understanding.

Judging by their forecast not much. They're supposed to get some rain this weekend but tomorrow is partly cloudy so it doesn't look like they're affected much at this point.

Great I move northeast to SC from NOLA and 3 months in there have been more hurricane threats here than in the past 4 years back home...
