As do I. I may be completely off base, but it certainly seems as though the eastern coast of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina were shaped by the erosion of tropical systems. It could also be an incredible coincidence.

Yea, as early as yesterday morning the short term trends started to favor the Euro OTS solution. The NHC was still adjusting W with the track yesterday eventhough those trends were obvious. However, they never full committed to the Mid-Atlantic landfall and were E of the consensus and did a great job of highlighting the uncertainty in the discussions.

The truly ironic thing is that the subways are in exactly the same condition they were in pre Sandy. Nothing has changed.

The Superstorm Sandy thing still makes me chuckle a little bit. The East Coast media will take anything that directly affects them and sensationalize it to ridiculous degrees. Wasn't it a TS when it hit land? That is not to marginalize the damage it did.

It was obviously an incredibly destructive event worthy of lots of news coverage, but it gets put into a category with 9/11 and Katrina which I find just totally bizarre.

More like the Northeast Coast media.
If Sandy would have hit the Outer Banks and fell apart, you would have barely heard about it.

To be fair Sandy also triggered a massive snowstorm to the west that added to the problems.

The main reason you heard about it is because it flooded NYC's subway tunnels and shut off power to a 1/3 of Manhattan- not excluding wrecking the Jersey Shore and a lot of Long Island. All damage was caused by the surge (unfortunately at high tide), not wind or rain.
Anytime Manhattan goes dark the media will pick it up.
