Well when she winds up dead on the side of the road with a 0.32% BAC and the last documented actions of her life were getting gang banged by a random group of men in a car talking about raping her it should jail time.

quote:Are they even charged with her death? What if they brought her to the correct house and she still wandered out into the street and died? Does that change anything? What if she had lived and went about her life as normal and we never heard about this? Why did her friends leave her with them? Was it a regular occurrence?

Jail time for what?

Asking for a ride home before any sex or not knowing her address before the sex. We know that?
The first part (asking for a ride home before) was reported as such, so yes.
The second part (not knowing her address before), IDK. It stands to reason if she didn't know afterwards, she didn't know before.

About 10 years ago there was a case that made the news here where a young woman killed someone in a car accident. Her BAC content was around 3.0 which is the same as Brooks'. The driver was found guilty and no one argued over whether or not she should be held responsible for her decisions.
It is interesting that people are assumed to be capable of making decisions and be responsible for their actions when they drive drunk but not when they have sex drunk.

quote:I hadn’t seen that. From everything that I’ve seen, She stayed late with those guys telling her friends she was fine. Then she chased them down in the parking lot and they immediately pulled around the corner for sex. Was it that she told a friend they would bring her home or was it reported that she actually asked them?

but I think the most damning piece is her wandering into the middle of a dark street after. Her brain was essentially shut off at that point so there is zero chance she legally consented minutes before.
The fact that there are many pedestrians killed annually who were not impaired would poke a hole in that theory.

Had they held her against her will, would they be facing kidnapping charges as well?
No sober, reasonable person would consider it kidnapping had they postponed letting her out until they could do in a better site. If someone willingly elects to ride with you and then later demands you let them out of your vehicle but you happen to be say in the middle lane of Katy Freeway, what then?
Do we know why they didn't call 911? Take her to the police precinct? Call an Uber?
I think we know why.
FTR, I don't think this is even a serious question or even one they were asking.

I hadn’t seen that.

Investigators said Carver told them Brooks asked for a ride home with them. He told investigators both Washington and the 17-year-old asked Brooks to have sex with them and she agreed, the warrant states.
Carver told investigators he believed Brooks was too drunk to know that she was consenting to sex and he “hated it,” the warrant states.

I've charitably answered your questions; any reason you won't reciprocate?

Wow, never took the time to read the story.
Was the guy that hit her arrested?
The guys that raped her should all be strung up by the local population.
This guy went from not knowing anything about this case to having all kind of opinions about it pretty quick.

I remember that statement now. I glossed over her asking for a ride because I just assumed that was him saying they didn’t coerce or force her. It definitely doesn’t mention that she didn’t know her address at that time. Hell, she may never have known her exact address if she was living in a new place around campus which I believe is the case. I think that was talked about before. That they brought her to pelican lakes because she was actually living in Pelican apartments or something similar and that’s all she could remember.

No...It was in a driveway located directed across nicholson from Tiger Land. Yes, you read that correctly. Some random drive way....Behind a convenience store.

quote:Because they’re teenagers and another teenager told them she would get out and go home on her own. Is that difficult to understand? Lots of drunk people don’t get 911 or Ubers called for them by others much less dropped off at a police station. Why are you pretending anyone involved is a responsible adult? None of them are innocent here.
Do we know why they didn't call 911? Take her to the police precinct? Call an Uber?
