Luminox and Seiko battery replacement

i have one of each and both need new batteries (i think/assume). ive brought the Luminox to a local watch repair shop once and the battery did not last long. any better services known of? perhaps even mail off for repair and they mail back. im in South Louisiana. TIA

Usually jewelry stores can replace watch batteries.

yes i tried that and it lasted about a month IIRC. that was 5 or 6 years ago now

I received one as a college graduation gift and it lasted 10 years no issues. when it conked i received another one as a gift. its lasted well but the battery has given me trouble, may need more extensive repairs

Your Seiko - is it a solar?
I have a solar chrono that I kick around every now and then, but the watch cannot be kept in the dark, as the battery gets recharged by being exposed to light.
Make sure they're putting the correct battery in if it is, indeed, a solar.

I just bring mine to the local jeweler and have them change it.
All my watches that take batteries I just pull the pin so the battery doesn’t keep running if it’s not in the rotation for a while.

Seiko is a great brand for a sub $1000 watch. Then there's the Grand Seiko brand which are $5,000-$30,000 and beyond.

I don’t know if just anyone can change those batteries, for either brand. I would say find a jewelry store around where you live that’s an authorized dealer and have them take care of it.

There's a couple good places in BR that I know of. One on Florida called Watch Repair Inc and one on Government called Son's Watch/Jewelry Repair. I've gotten similar jobs as your's done at both of these locations with satisfactory results.

If the seiko is a kinetic, you will have to send it to seiko. About $170 to have it serviced if no other issues

I have 2 Luminox and change the batteries myself. One has tiny screws and the other requires a watch tool that I got off Amazon. It’s pretty easy and have had no issues with with the watches working after.

That's the one I attempted to change the battery. Regular battery fit, but was completely not compatible.

It was more of a personal nostalgic comment for my experience since I wore Seikos religiously when i was younger. I started wearing them at age 3 and literally never took them off. In my mid 20's I received a Cyma as a gift and wore that for a while. But starting with the advent of cell phones, I just eventually quit wearing watches altogether.
So I have been out of the watch game for a little while...but seeing Seiko mentioned brought back some good memories of my dad and I getting new ones together
