LSU President William Tate has named a former colleague from the University of South Carolina, Mark Bieger, to the newly created position of vice president for strategy.

Bieger, who most recently served as chief of staff to the president at South Carolina, where Tate was provost, will report directly to Tate. According to a statement from the university, he will be charged with helping improve organizational alignment of all LSU campuses throughout the state and helping drive the implementation of top priorities.

I don’t know about that.

Keep hearing that America has never been more racist against minorities than it is right now.

Bieger won’t be fired for any reason, regardless of his competence.

The grift and corruption is already starting.

Can't wait for Tate to be fired once JBE is gone and replaced by a conservative.

His CV seems strong for a leadership and strategy role. No clue about his results at his previous stops, though.

Interesting resume. Among his accomplishments: Silver Star for combat valor in Iraq.

I’m sure all the detractors did their research though.

Silver Star

AWARDED FOR ACTIONS
DURING Global War on Terror

Service: Army

Battalion: 1st Battalion

Division: 1st Infantry Division

GENERAL ORDERS:

Mark Bieger graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1991.

CITATION:

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Major (Infantry) Mark D. Bieger, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action. Major Bieger heroically distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous conduct in the face of the enemy of the United States while serving as the Battalion Operations Officer, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 2d Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, during combat operations in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, on 29 December, 2004, while Commanding a convoy of six Strykers near Combat Outpost Tampa, in Iraq. His heroic actions during combat operations in Iraq contributed to the overwhelming success of the command's mission. His bravery is in keeping with the finest traditions of military heroism and reflect distinct credit upon himself, this command, and the United States Army.

On May 2, 2005, Yon took a picture of U.S. Army Major Mark Bieger cradling an Iraqi girl wounded by shrapnel from a car bomb. Major Bieger tried to bring the girl to an American hospital to receive treatment but she died on the helicopter ride. The photo was submitted to TIME magazine; it was subsequently selected by TIME website viewers as the top photo of 2005, receiving nearly 70% of the vote.

Maybe somebody smarter than me can explain what we're supposed to be upset about.
