2007 Edward Gay Slayings Outcome

quote:

Devin Jamell Parker, 24, had turned state’s witness in the Dec. 13, 2007 killing of two doctoral students from Andhra Pradesh, Kiran Kumar Allam and Chandhrasekhar Komma Reddy, and testified against the two suspects in the case, Casey Germaine Gathers and Michael Jermaine Lewis, who had been charged with two counts each of second degree murder.

Parker plea-bargained and was expected to get a 10-year sentence in exchange for his testimony. But in court Oct. 29, East Baton Rouge County Judge Richard “Chip” Moore accused Parker of delivering inconsistent testimony in the case, which allowed Gathers and Lewis to go free. Moore said Parker told “half-truths” to prosecutors, in order to get a lighter sentence on charges of armed robbery and accessory to murder.

Lewis is still awaiting trial on multiple counts of first degree murder in unrelated killings and is still jailed awaiting trial.

Part of the problem. This is what the death penalty is for. You might as well say, I hope they catch the fricking vermin, and feed him three meals a day, while housing him with hundreds of other vermin so he learns nothing except how to be more of a predator, and then parole him, when the parole board can do so, because nobody cares enough to oppose his release.

When they find the killer they should hang him from the bridge. Criminals would start to think before they kill innocent, hard working people.

Serious question, why work on the north side of hell.
With all the stores, work elsewhere.

I say it all the time. 99% of the violent crime is thug rat on thug rat in the ghetto over drugs and I don’t care. This one though is a tragedy. Mark my words, they will catch the guy and he will be a multi felon who has done this before. But yay prison reform and protecting criminals rights.
So tell me again where I am wrong about going Medieval and publicly, gruesomely, dispatching all criminals so there is zero chance of repeat offending. Not only the tax saving on ending the prison/industrial complex, but the life saving and quality of life boost toward the law abiding public would make a strong argument for swift and final adjudication of offenses.

I'm certainly not blaming the victim but man you couldn't pay me $100/hour to work at a gas station in that part of the city.

Most definitely. A common issue faced with many international students, is that they have to partake in jobs like a convenient store clerk in order to make ends meet. I believe many do identify with the dangers of working in NBR, yet it is a chance some are willing to take in order to pay the bills, unfortunately.

This is depressing. Maybe it wasn’t such a great idea to clear out the prisons.

You are right! Working on campus doesn’t pay much and grad students aren’t getting a lot either. But at the end of the day, you have to decide that your life is worth more and transfer to cheaper universities or take the risks to provide for yourself.

NBR is pretty much the same as bad areas of New Orleans, St Louis, Baltimore etc. Working at a convenience store in that area would be pretty dangerous, especially at 3am. I'm surprised they didn't have bullet proof glass windows to be honest.

Nobody's going to march for this guy.

Nobody's going to make sure his story is told.

Nobody's going to condemn the shite culture that enables this garbage.

A man on the way to making the world just a little less shitty was killed by someone who's going to cost Johnny Taxpayer a few million to put away for life--assuming he's ever caught.

And nobody's gonna say a fricking thing.

What a fricking joke.

NBR is a shite culture that glorifies killing, selling drugs, and unemployment. The cancer spills into South BR. I can’t you tell how many times I’ve pumped gas and some TPOS comes out of nowhere with the “hey cuz, you got a light?”.

SWB and her henchmen can have their NBR Wakanda. SBR wants nothing of it.

NBR is a disaster. I'm 41 and remember when a good chunk of it was fairly decent. It's sad but likely to get worse. The trash is out breeding normal people and has been for decades.
