Part of the problem. This is what the death penalty is for. You might as well say, I hope they catch the fricking vermin, and feed him three meals a day, while housing him with hundreds of other vermin so he learns nothing except how to be more of a predator, and then parole him, when the parole board can do so, because nobody cares enough to oppose his release.

In Louisiana, life means life. No opportunity for parole. The only exceptions are juveniles convicted of murder. I’m not sure why people keep pretending that “life without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence” means something other than what it says.

Appalling. Who amongst us will be the next victim of senseless violence?

Then comes the news that a precious little girl (about five) was left home alone for six days while her mother and boyfriend went off to the beach on a so-called vacation. The little girl suffered abuse at the hands of the boyfriend and died. The police found the body of the little girl in a closet. I saw photos of the little girl.......she was precious.

In my decades here on this earth I have never seen the level of violence we're witnessing now.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested a man in the murder of 29-year-old Md Firoz-Ul-Amin that occurred on September 7th at approximately 3:30 a.m. at the Mr. Lucky’s Valero Gas Station at 1400 Airline Highway. Antonio D. Watts (12/27/96) of Port Allen is charged with First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Illegal Use of a Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Weapon. A concerned resident contacted detectives and provided information about Watts as a possible person of interest. Detectives picked him up in East Baton Rouge Parish today and took him to the VCU for questioning. Watts confessed to shooting and killing the clerk, Firoz-Ul-Amin. He provided details which corroborate the surveillance video.

That's how it should be in every state, "juveniles" included.
I know here in FL that if someone dies while you're committing a felony you're charged with their murder and will have to serve 80% of your sentence before being eligible for parole

Watts will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He's facing one count of first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and felon in possession of a weapon.

I’m curious about this felony & how long he was in jail

She told him to do good deeds. Maybe this is what he thought she meant.

Some charges of the perp before adding 1st degree murder to his wrap sheet... SIMPLE BURGLARY, SIMPLE CRIMINAL DAM PROP, FAILURE TO APPEAR, UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY OF BUSINESS, SIM. BURG. OF BUSINESS, DIST. OF SCHED 1.

His public defender will probably try to get him off the death penalty because all his nuts and bolts aren't there.
He confessed to shooting and killing the clerk and provided details which corroborate the surveillance video per the news article.
