LSU PhD student killed during Baton Rouge gas station robbery

Police say a man entered the building, located at 1400 Airline Highway, around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. He shot the clerk, Md Firoz Firoz-Ulamin, 29, before robbing the store, police say. Firoz-Ulamin was pronounced dead at the scene.
LSU spokesman Ernie Ballard said Saturday Firoz-Ulamin was a PhD student in the Computer Science & Engineering program at the university. He worked under Professor Golden G. Richard III, who specializes in research on digital forensics, reverse engineering and malware analysis.
Firoz-Ulamin's LinkedIn page shows he received both a bachelor's degree and master's degree in computer science and engineering from Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh. He was scheduled to graduate with his doctorate from LSU in 2023.

Damn, what a complete travesty. Md Firoz Firoz-Ulamin had a bright future ahead of him. I hope they catch the fricking vermin, and sentence them to life without parole.

Damn. When i started grad school in 2007 two grad students were killed in those ghetto apartments by campus. One chem student and i think the other was biology. Both from india, i believe.

I say it all the time. 99% of the violent crime is thug rat on thug rat in the ghetto over drugs and I don’t care. This one though is a tragedy. Mark my words, they will catch the guy and he will be a multi felon who has done this before. But yay prison reform and protecting criminals rights.

The Edward Gay apartments killing. One of the TPOS was acquitted, one is still in jail on unrelated killings, and the other was sentenced for armed robbery who, under oath, was going to testify and recanted his testimony at the last minute.

There was a shooting at the Cottages on Ben Hur Road (name changed to the Lodges at 777 now because of it) where 2 female athletes from Southern were killed in 2016.

Do you have any links on stories following up on this? One of the guys who was murdered was my biology lab teacher. I never could find any information about whether they solved the case or not.
