It's girls.

My parents helped me load up the car and said, see you in a few weeks for football. I hauled my own shite up to my room in Kirby with no issue.

Basically the line is so long because of all the shite they brought that they don't need, and usually the entire family is with them so it looks like more people than it actually is.

Holee shite man. Unload your own stuff. What world do we live in? It's fricking college. A state school, not some expensive resort.

Lotta negativity on this board.

Anyway my son (soph) is moving into ECA tomorrow. He can’t fit everything in his Civic so I’m hauling some stuff for him. Will buy him lunch somewhere (my pick) and bid him adieu.

The consensus is both suck.

Their difficulty will just come later in life then.

I volunteered at Move in day

Things were fine. 7000 students moved in today. Sorry you had to wait baw

Had to lug an entire bedroom furniture set to the 4th floor today. How TF does any sane person think a freshman needs 3 dressers, a vanity, fridge, and 3 bookcases

Problem solved if everyone doesn’t move in the same day. My son went Friday and the only problem he had was he didn’t have a cart. No big deal his roommate was with him and they got it done. I was there yesterday and that was a cluster. We helped two of the suite mates move in and I got to watch the clusterfrick unfold. It was actually kind of funny especially when it started raining. Grown men were griping about gettin wet because they didn’t have a “device”(AKA-a cart) to roll an empty clothes hamper to the room. I just said frick this and started carrying stuff to their room. Stuff may have gotten a little wet but, it’ll be okay. Oh and then there was one of those U-Haul trucks that was slammed packed. Somewhere along the way common sense was lost on so many levels!

So you've been to their visitors section for a football game too.

3 foot wide stairwell for 3000 people. Missed the whole first quarter in 1995.

How does the process work these days?

My freshman year you had to go to the PMac to get your key then travel to your dorm to unload. Was a cluster, but I found out that if you didn't move in on moving day they would send your key to the front desk of your dorm.

Sophomore year I just waited a day or two then came.to campus. Went to front desk, got my key, and was moved in within 15 minutes.

Why didn’t you refuse to move it? Don’t let yourself be abused as a volunteer. You’re there to HELP. Not there to be tortured by strangers.

Sean O’Keefe was the man. He was real and actually cared about students and interacting with them. He ate lunch every day in the dining halls with the students.

You couldn’t pay the current administration to come out and talk to students or eat at a lowly craphole (in their mind) like a dining hall. That’s beneath them. Which is why LSU is turning into shite and the administration needs to go.

Hope you’re excluding the Provost from that list. Because she’s not like that.

This is like when you board an airplane. Sometimes it's best to just go drink at the bar and get on last

We moved our dtr into her dorm out of state. She and I went to the dorm Thursday night to just make sure we knew where we were going. People were moving in so we went by Friday to inquire. We were told we could pay $100 to move in then and there. No lines for elevator and no parking issues.

Best $100 ever. We originally were told that no it wasn’t an option when we close texted the housing department. It was so super nice to not be in the chaos yesterday.

We moved my son in too. Left at 11am, had a 2pm move in time. Was unloading at 1:30. 15 minutes later, all his things where in his room. LSU had a lot of students helping haul stuff and get everyone checked in. Traffic was epic, but it did work for the west side of campus.

That’s fine, just don’t have parents sit through a day long orientation telling them that the plan is for you to drive up, kids will unload your stuff and bring it to assigned room. You go park elsewhere and return to help. Regardless, the system as it stands now needs some serious rethinking. Or they need to attempt to execute the original plan.
