There’s some 1,800 (Herget, Miller, McVoy, ECA) or so people trying to move in at once into a small area.

Add in people who don’t know where their going, parents who let their kids bring too much stuff (saw multiple trucks pulling trailers for a fully furnished dorm) and this is what you get.

They do.

Should have known better, but was shocked when she told me there is a specific way to enter campus. Why do they make this so difficult?

Have you seen the lawnmower parents? If they just let them drive up whenever and wherever and park for as long as they wanted the backup would be 4839382 times worse than it is now.

I’m still amazed at the multiple trailers I saw yesterday. For a furnished dorm. Ridiculous.

supposed to move into Miller dorm at 9 am

Pretty sure that's when you can start. Not the time you have to be there. You don't have to be first. You can move anytime after

Not for nothing, but A&M has an amazing engineering school. I am all for a dig on A&M, but making fun of their engineering program is a tough sell.

I will have to say Alabama has that shite figured out. My son lived in a dorm his freshman year and all you do is pull up and they have people to unload the car\truck and put it in large cardboard boxes with furniture dollies under them. The you move car while they watch your stuff. Then you push it onto the elevator and to the room.

Easy as pie. We were in and out in less than a half hour.

The plan here was issue 20k parking passes for a lot that has 700 spots. Make everyone go there and issue new tags to drop off all while limiting access.

This is exactly my experience so far. But as we know LSU needs a traffic engineering dept badly. We sat for an hour in traffic to go one and a half blocks. They have poor students directing traffic half the time and are overwhelmed. Pretty sure my other kids in the car are convinced they aren’t going to be allowed to go to school here. frick Alleva

They issued 20k passes for the East Parker Lot?

Why would they issue 20k passes for 3-4 dorms? That’s like 7 passes per student. Find that hard to believe.

The process seems straightforward. But I’m guessing people aren’t adhering to their times/directions.

I’m not sure on the 20k, just know every student gets 2 parking passes in addition to theirs. Add all the people in left lane trying to squeeze in at W lakeshore and you’ve got a fricking mess.

I’d imagine people like you are the ones causing the problem. Trying to circumvent the process.

I heard LSU was implementing this exact same system. Not sure if that was only for certain dorms or something went wrong along the way.

I’m not over there, but unless they have the lanes “reversed” at South Lakeshore and Parker to allow continuous movement...they’ll have a bottleneck.

Probably lacking in volunteers/staff to assist I’d assume.

From looks of things I have time to get you a firm number. Regardless, the number of vehicles on road won’t fit into that lot. And now that it’s raining I’m sure some will try and circumvent the system. Really don’t get the trailers. I think mines has too much crap too, but I’m told the rooms are larger now.

You want the real story?

Traditionally, only students going through rush or participating in some other early activity moved in this weekend.

All other students moved in a week later. LSU, in its wisdom, implemented a required “Welcome Week” where all freshmen have to participate the entire week.

This resulted in all freshmen moving in at once, rather than staggered over 7-10 days.
