LSU Welcome Week

Required for all freshmen, except those going through rush, playing sports or in the band. (Due to those activities also taking place the same week)

It’s basically extended orientation. The general premise is good because it gives them a lay of the land and students can’t say “I didn’t know about XYZ”...

But a week is way too long because it’s littered with fluff that isn’t necessary.

As I recall, many years ago, not one single person helped me move into my dorms. I put my stuff in the car and moved myself.

My favorite is the foam party and the bus trip to Target for school supplies.

Also, an Avengers watch party from the lazy river.

Can’t imagine the losers participating in this shite.

I’m really not trying to knight for LSU here but this stuff exists at every major university. They’re catering to the lawnmower parent.

I’m still pissed that LSU has a parents orientation now. Because so many moms and dads were showing up to shadow their kid.

They should have just said no parents allowed.

Talk with any Dean, department chair, college counselor and you’d be floored at the stuff sent from parents to them about their kid. Thankfully they just “FERPA” most of it...

Should have staggered the dates though. And welcome “week” could’ve been 2-3 days. Start it Tuesday and there’s much less moving problems.

Agreed, this is asinine. Finally made it to lot, get tag and here we sit again. Haven’t moved in 15 mins. Guessing the rain is impacting things.

LSU Welcome Week

I can't believe they're making this shite mandatory.

The only thing I remember about freshman orientation is registering for classes and an assembly in the union where they taught us the words to Hey Fightin' Tigers.

It's not mandatory...
Just highly encouraged, I would think

I seriously doubt you are already kicked out for not participating in these shenanigans.

Like, what is the penalty for not going to these welcome week things?

The moms bitching at the flag girls is getting comical.

My niece moved into Pentagon today and they had all kinds of student athletes helping. Even Mike the Tiger.

I guess it depends on your definition of mandatory. It specifically says it’s required. But they won’t kick you out of school for not going.

So, if you don’t mind breaking the rules, then nothing is really mandatory.

My parents parked in front of Hatcher hall, said goodbye, and I walked up with one suitcase. Years ago moved my daughter into an LSU dorm and seemed like I moved into a new house. Today’s Women !

Man, this. I drove to Power Dorm, parked in the back and unloaded my shite. I saw three people the entire time I was there the first two days.
