I get plenty from TAF. You would think they would share information.

I'm hoping Stephen Moret can turn things around, but I don't think so. To give money to LSU the process is so damn convoluted that I don't even want to bother.
For openers, there are about 50 organizations from LSU looking for money: LSU Foundation, LSU Alumni, LSU. When I get the call, I don't know who in the hell is looking for what. I generally give to the college of Business from which I graduated, but even that isn't very easy.
Now after the budget and football fiasco, I'm not sure I would give a red cent if those bastards came to my door with a silver platter. There really needs to be a change in leadership of the university, because what we currently have sucks.
Also galling when you give to a specific project (Nutrition Center) it receives all necessary funds, and the jackasses don't put shovel to dirt for appearance reasons. What's the damn point?

I believe you'll see Moret bring all three under one roof in a few years.
I'd look at giving Alexander, and in particular, the new Provost some time on the academic side. The mess that's been the coaching search has overshadowed a lot of good the leadership has done in recent years to get LSU moving in the right direction.

My former pet peeve was how much Charlie Roberts was making in salary when he was head of the LSU Alumni Association. His salary was almost 1/3 of the Alumni Association's annual revenue from donations.

I've donated to the University where I attended graduate school, but not LSU. I'll donate to LSU once the administration decides to quit being so hostile towards the Greek community.

Alumni's kids should get in state tuition again regardless of their residence.
But I agree that LSU needs to step up their fundraising. $800 million system wide is a good start, but it's not where LSU should be.

One of the main problems with the LSU Foundation is that these days it's functioning more like an accounting firm when it should be evangelical in its approach to philanthropic giving.
They need to be singing the praises of LSU as opposed to shaming people about how little alumni give to the university. When people see how few alumni give, they react the same way practically everyone in this thread has. The non-giving behavior is reinforced! After all... 94% isn't giving. It's "normal" behavior for an LSU grad. How many of you felt shamed enough by the numbers to call up LSU and give today?

I think the "shaming" as you put it is to utilize some of the competitive spirit we have vs. our peer institutions in the SEC in athletics and bring it to academics.
