Where in the hell is your mayor?
I believe he was in Key West measuring the sea level today and was headed to Philly next to lecture on how qualified he is to run for President.

There really is no helping these people. Fear of jail time or death doesn't detur people from being jack asses.

Why is it necessary to chase this car? Why do the LSP put the public safety on the back burner?
There is NO excuse for this chase. The plate showed the car stolen, so what? Half the cars in NOLA East are stolen. Doesn't the law require the chase be approved by rank? This is a PRIME example of why it is hard to trust Law Enforcement. Overzealous, macho behavior. Just gotta chase this guy!
Good Job LSP! Your officers no doubt will get some medals or awards or something . . .
fricking hell that's some high level stupidity there. Need some anti-procreation laws for people like this.

Same happened in BR when the kid got hit during a pursuit. Gravy and crew immediately blamed the cops before any info was put out.
I always wondered what these people want. It's like they want the police to let the animals run wild, but then want respectable businesses to invest there. You can't have both you fat, gravy guzzling bastard

According to progressives, and MANY here on this very board, Louisiana just arrests people for gits and shiggles so that the private prison operators can turn a profit.

These are people who take no personal responsibility for anything negative. It is ALWAYS someone else's fault.
Perp kills someone - "Why won't the cops protect us?"
Cop kills perp - "The cops are killing us in the streets!"
Also, they are always the perpetual victim no matter what happens and their newest boogeyman is the cops. In their minds, if the cops would just stop arresting people for committing crimes, there would be no crime.

I want to think that crazy shite that happens in Nola happens in other big cities as well, and that we only know about it all because we follow the local news, but I never hear about this stuff happening in Dallas. I follow the news here as well. New Orleans is way down the drain.

How about Baton Rouge? a child (pedestrian) was killed in a police pursuit a couple of months ago.
Nobody is advocating letting offenders in a vehicle go free, but god damn the high speed police pursuit through heavily populated urban areas seems like a dinosaur in 2017. There has to be a better way.

Well, we're all ears, Mr. law enforcement professional.
Maybe we should just invent those phasers like on Star Trek.

Use the technology we already have, identify the vehicle and driver, direction they are traveling and start collapsing resources.
Hopefully maintaining looser contact deescalates the situation. In a city environment the guy is not going to get away.

So you're assuming that there are infinite resources that will be available?
Also, once a chase begins, you think the perp will actually slow down once the cops back off? Or are you suggesting that the cops not pursue at all?

Obviously this. If you will flee from the police with a child, you are a complete POS.

That's not really a viable solution either.
