Not sure why my post of 1800 calories and cardio daily gets downvotes. It's all about a deficit of calories to lose weight.

Those of you who are on a low or no carb diet and train with weights, how do you do it? I don't count carbs, but I do limit them to a degree. I can have a low carb day and be 2000+ calories deep by 4 pm when I head to the gym. If it's a dead lift or a squat day, I get dizzy and have to fight to not pass out. If I load up on carbs on these days, I have a much more productive work out. Where does your stamina come from if ur at a carb deficit?

Ive been convinced to try this stupid diet by a friend and they claim it works

It 100% works. I had a fungal ear infection that would not go away no matter what meds I took so my ELEVENTH doctor said cut out all sugar and carbs for 45 days and it will have nothing to feed on and it will go away. Sure it totally went away and I lost 30 pounds in 45 days but I was very strict about it.

Lost over 100 lbs on it, but as others have said once you take yourself off of it the weight will come back quickly - UNLESS - a few months before you start to come off of the diet, begin a weight training program. I shifted from diet/running to ~60 carbs day/shittons of protein/lifting and didn't gain much back. If you don't lift or keep your body active you need to keep your carbs down for the rest of your life or you will blow up seemingly overnight. Also, don't just eat pure red meat on that diet or your cholesterol will skyrocket. Mix in fish, crawfish, lots of chicken, shrimp, etc.

Try slow digesting carbs for your pre workout mesl or sip on a carb drink while you lift. If you're going to consume low carbs, those would be the ideal times.

The whole quick loss and subsequent regain on low carb is generally just due to water weight (oversimplification here for brevity sake).

The fat loss will come, but people get enamored with the scale even though body comp still takes time.

Fwiw, I've found that about 100g of carbs a day is perfect for me. I can still lift well, maintain good body comp, cognition feels great, and sleep is great.

I keep the majority of my carbs after 4pm to aid in sleep quality.

Cutting out carbs is the easiest way to bring that calorie count down.

Actually that would be fat.

Need quick carbs not slow. Pixie sticks and gummi bears are the norm. I usually get the powder gatorade and add it to my preworkout drink.

If you want to be an unfit bodybuilder type then go for it.

Otherwise, put the work in and actually get fit and not just look fit.
What does that even mean?

Bodybuilders are generally some unfit and unhealthy mf'ers. The magicians of fitness.

I dare a bodybuilder do a fitness test, they would fail for the most part. No endurance, no flexibility, dehydrated and taking crap that most organized sports ban. Yeah, they are "fit" alright.

Yes, very well. The problem is if you do not transition back into carbs appropriately you plump right back up.

Yes. It absolutely works, but you have to be realistic about it.

Remember, Diets are for fat women getting married. Once you get off it you will gain it all back if your habits go back to shite.

It has to be a lifestyle. Something you can reasonably do.

First thing is to cut out refined sugar and complex carbs like white bread, flour, limit potatoes a lot if you eat those. Eat whole wheat.

I've done it for years. That and an hour a day in thee gym with a good routine will melt the weight off.

(side note: I drink everyday. Something. Mostly wine and vodka mixed with sparkling ice or something. IPA's here and there. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't drink doing low carbs. That's BS. you just have to be committed, drink and eat the right things and get into the habit of going to the gym)

- Grains have only been in the human diet for about 10,000 years, and modern humans have been around for about 200,000 years (from about 6 million years of evolution). So, the majority of human evolution was based around a diet of eating animals and plants (vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc.), which means that our digestive system is designed around those types of foods (low carb). Another thing that is often missed is that grains were usually eaten after being soaked/sprouted/fermented, and that decreases the toxins and makes them more digestible. Most modern grains are not eaten that way in your typical western diet.

Eh, you can drink, but you are compromising the best results. Alcohol has a lot of sugar.

Just go 3 months without a drink and see the progress you make. If you can't go 3 months without a sip of alcohol, then you might have another problem.

Not really. The food will still be digesting during your workout. Digestion expends energy, energy you need for your workout.
