Louisiana woman dragged into ditch, mauled by pack of 8 dogs, police say

ST. HELENA PARISH, LA (WAFB) - The St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Department reports a woman was dragged into a ditch and mauled by a pack made up of as many as 8 dogs.
Officials say they were alerted to the incident by an individual who stopped to assist the victim after he noticed she’d been injured. The individual was able to load the injured woman into his vehicle until help arrived.
Based on statements provided by the victim, investigators learned as the woman was walking on Highway 449 the pack of dogs exited a residence and attacked her in the roadway. She was then pulled into a ditch by the dogs and further mauled.
Officials say the owners of the dogs were contacted about the attack. The dogs were later surrendered to the Tangi Humane Society. As of Monday morning, no charges have been filed.
Police say the victim is recovering at a hospital located in Hammond, Louisiana. Her condition and the severity of her injuries remains unclear.
There was no other information given about the dogs other than that they were "mixed breed."

I was surrounded by dogs once on a country road. There were three of them, and they meant me harm.
I had a stick in my hand to ward them off until one got close enough for me to kick. Caught him right under the snout and flipped him over.
They left me alone after that. It was a no shite scary experience. You can't believe it's happening.
That was three. I would have had no chance against eight.

Would a citizen passing by been in the right to take deadly force action with a firearm against the pack of 8 dogs to prevent potential life threatening out come to the women?

Thats another reason to carry a handgun. A G19 would have let you shoot each one twice and have a couple rounds left over for the trashy owner.

2 pits surrounded my wife, 1yo son and dog she was out walking (she was in the middle of the street) and they killed the dog and as she was trying to intervene the other would circle back towards the stroller.
i was out of town and she called me sobbing worse than anything i've ever heard. i have to say that was one of the angriest and most helpless feelings of my life. i put a club and 2 cans of high-range wasp spray in the stroller and i pray i'm with her if anything like this ever goes down again.

somebody told ne about this. May have been tye person that saved her. Said she was in rough shape.
