Time to blow the levee below Belle Chasse and give the river a new mouth. You'll see land being built in a hurry, with almost $0 construction costs.

Wildlife that never would be able to live there if it had not become saltwater from leveeing the rivers for 100 years

a 50 year long project that would only create 25 mi.² of land in one small area and it was gonna cost $3 billion

Yup, it was beyond stupid

But of course those supporting it love to spend other peoples money on worthless endeavors

1. The money was coming from BP and dedicated GOMESA funding not from taxpayers.

2. They're still going to spend most of that money, just on less effective projects. This also puts the Coastal Master plan in shambles which means back to the drawing board for a lot of projects.

Eta: 3. Cancelling the MBSD means $600m down the drain with nothing to show for it.

It was BP’s money that now will be wasted somewhere else instead of something that at least would be a net positive.

But Landry owed Nungesser a huge favor for 2023, and this is what they negotiated.

The fact you think 25 square miles is a small area should negate the rest of your thoughts

Landry and Nungesser
Why are you lumping Billy in with Jeff Landry?

What is this backroom deal between Billy & Jeff that people are talking about?

This was the thirty pieces of silver promised to get Nungesser to not run for Governor in 2023.

20% pissed away with zero to show for it but useless studies and corrupt politicians.

Can’t wait to see how they piss away the rest over the next few years!

Pretty impressive how absolutely atrocious Louisiana’s leaders continue to be.

What an absolute colossal waste of time, money and resources. The only thing that happened is out is state lawyers got rich on it.

fortunately I was able to see the presentation a couple years ago at the Port of fusion, when you see it on a map in comparison to the total area around it, it is relatively small,,, and it would take 50 years to achieve

The thing about diversions is that they're just one piece of a multi-pronged approach to coastal restoration. If you look at diversion in isolation, they're not the end-all-be-all, but if you take them into consideration with other tactics, you really start to see a difference. You start to get a compounding return.
