These maps are always interesting to me. The poorest part of the US from starts just north of BR all the way up to Memphis following the Mississippi. Doesn’t matter which side of the river you’re on. There is literally no Oasis in that desert. Ona side note, Georgia is toast.

Along with Navajo Indians in the Southwest, Cheyenne Indians in South Dakota, and Hispanics on the border.

The stat I used to make the assertion was that slightly more than 57% of the population of the state of Georgia lives in Metro Atlanta. The demographics were simply added to show the diversity of Metro Atlanta. You're the one that made the inference, not me.

Lost in all of this is that are lots and lots of middle class and upper middle class black folks in Atlanta with good incomes. These populations either don't exist on Lousiana or are very small.
I don't have any stats to present on this. It comes from living in New Orleans for 30 years and Atlanta for 20.

Makes sense - most of my black friends from NOLA ended up in Atlanta after Katrina.
