LDH website shows number of cases and number in hospital/on vents but where can I find number of beds/vents available? I realize they may not be where the demand is but I’m just curious if there are any “front line stories” about the situations in hospitals.

Fox News reported this morning that per JBE by Friday we would be out of vents & by April 6th we would be out of hospital beds

I am at the point where I don’t trust anything anyone says anymore

I can't believe people don't realize by now that governors and other politicians say this shite just to position their cities and states with the most resources

They've said what they needed to say their entire lives to get ahead, why would they stop now?

JBE is why I’m asking honestly. He’s been calm and what not but I take his words as fear mongering. That’s why I’m hoping he is using other models than the covid link.

I am skeptical of what they’re telling us.

DrSteve that’s what I think — I’m just trying to gauge my level of stupidity thinking that.

You are skeptical of actual hospital numbers? Do you realize how ridiculous that is right?

The fat arse program director on KPEL, named Kirkpatrick, kept repeating that JBE and the state needed 14,000 ventilators at every news break yesterday. I know their station is awful but for him not to realize that number is totally absurd is ridiculous. KPEL claims to be this 'conservative' station but in reality are nothing but cheerleaders for progressive GOPe guys like the Bushies / Romney / McCain types. They are fine with big government, as long as their side is in charge of the big government.

To clarify, JBE said at his press conference today that the projection forecasted by their modeling was to run out of ventilators in Region One (New Orleans area) by April 6. I don't believe it was the whole state. He further qualified that statement by saying that he wasn't positive if that estimate included 150 ventilators that arrived this morning from the National Strategic Reserve and being allocated around the state by the Nat'l Guard.

He further stated that if the projection holds true, the hospitals would have to use ventilators not designed for ICU use - anesthesia machines, EMS units, etc. So I'm not sure about the April 6 date as being out of ventilators or being out of ventilators specifically designed for ICUs. My feeling is that hospitals will cope.

I posted this LINK in an earlier thread. It's from NOLA.com and was written a few weeks ago. From the link:

quote:

The state collects data by region that show there are 407 ventilators, 652 ICU beds and 4,299 total staffed beds across Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines and St. Bernard parishes.

There are 21,848 staffed beds in Louisiana, of which 2,363 are for intensive care, according to LDH. Additionally, Louisiana hospitals have a total 2,320 ventilators.

But I think I heard one of the news outlets say this week that LA only had a bit over 1000 ventilators, so who knows what the actual numbers are.

I read yesterday (forget where) we had ~1800 ventilators in Louisiana. Of those ~850 or 950 were being used for all causes. This is why the feds sent us 150 ventilators and not the 12,000 JBE is saying he wanted. Feds are rationing what they have (~9000) as idiots like Cuomo ask for thousands of ventilators when they have thousands in storage.

Don’t let the 12,000 number fool you as the feds are not prepared. They will give them out when they are needed, NOT when the locals want them.

Plus, we are making more and will have thousands more in a month (in federal inventory).
