This fricker here. He is quickly trying to catch up to Edwards and his tangi casino scam.

What a state!

I too refuse to fish unless it's from the deck of $30 million boat. It's the sportsman's way

frick Jeff Landry and Shane Guidry. I can't wait to vote this motherfricker out. I don't think he understands just how unpopular and vulnerable he is.

[quote]I get the visceral reaction, but how exactly does this personally benefit Guidry? By allowing him to register his boats (that he runs in Louisiana) in Louisiana as opposed to Florida (where he currently registers them)? The concept seems clear to me - poach that revenue from Florida and other states with more reasonable taxes. If Louisiana were already competitive with other states, Guidry would have paid $180k in taxes on his 9 boats to Louisiana instead of to other states.
This is how I'm interpreting this, as well. Basically, Louisiana isn't seeing any of that money now because people with money are purchasing/registering their boats in states with more favorable taxes.

At this point I think I’d vote for Gary Chambers over Landry.

Plus the gas that’s sold, plus the other operating costs of having the boat registered and docked in the state.
The boat is going to be where the fish are. Is isnt going to hang out in Venice then weekend in the Bahamas.

probably similar to ships registering iunder a flag of convenience, such as Liberia, cheaper, less regulation, inspections, etc., but it's unlikely they spend a whole lot of time in Liberia

Exactly what I was thinking. What percentage of people in Louisiana could afford a 200k+ boat? Less than 1%. I get the concept but man that is some really bad optics for Landry.

someone needs to primary him or we are looking at JBE3

He doesn’t care. He called us all failures after we didn’t pass his bullshite amendments back in March.

If I'm reading this right, it appears that folks who will likely take advantage of this would be likely to register their boats somewhere like Florida, rather than Louisiana, to take advantage of lower tax rates. If that is so, then perhaps this may result in a net gain rather than a loss. However, I must admit that luxury boats are not in my wheelhouse.

I would just be happy to be able to register my old jon boat with the absolute dog shite LDWF without have to have the social security number, DOT physical, and background check of the guy that welded on it 50 years ago.
For fricks sake let’s make no fricking effort whatsoever to do a goddamn thing for the weekend warriors in this state. Let’s cap the taxes on 47 Freeman’s so the guys running the pogie boat companies will take this dumb frick to catch a wahoo.

After digesting the article, this is correct. Louisiana was getting $0, now they might get $20k per boat.
Now the issue is the optics of Landry partying in Bermuda with campaign donors.

I will literally vote for anyone who campaigns against Landry on the premise of "I won't spend more money than the state collects in taxes and I won't engage in stupid culture war battles that are bound to lose in court and cost the state millions fighting." Anything else they do to improve the state beyond that is lagniappe.

No anal exam required? You got off easy.
Guess the G3 I get from Mike’s ain’t gonna qualify for this tax break, no?

If this wasn’t just about serving his friends he’d do the same for supercar and motorhome owners to keep them from registering them in Montana. $20k is better than 0 in that case as well.

What does a regular boat pay? The 5% LA + local?
