Would have been I-410.

Cool graphic. The only major highway project on the westbank that I was aware of that had been proposed but then never built was the elevated freeway over marsh land that would've extended Lafitte-Larose Highway (LA-3134) from its current endpoint in Lafitte all the way to southern Lafourche Parish.

Always wondered how Lake Charles ended up getting a bypass loop off I-10, but NOLA and BR never got one despite being so much more heavily populated and having more of a need for it.

1. a new bridge (with train tracks in the middle)
2. a loop
3. passenger trains between Lafayette, BR and Nola. Connect the 3 main South LA cities.

The rest can go frick themselves.

This list is not new. This priority list has been in place for at least a decade. I remember when Blanco Admin and DOTD put this out. Basically a list of projects that are beyond the budget. A couple of new projects get added from time to time.

Growing up in South Lafourche I've always heard stories of that mythical highway that was never built. Would have cut the 90 minute drive to NOLA in half.

Every time I drive through Gulfport it pisses me off how they have had 6 lanes there for a long time now and how I-12 still isn't 6 lanes for its entirety with all the truck traffic on it

The map showing the route of the Baton Rouge northern bypass is bizarre. It's preposterous that much of I-49 is only "Priority C".

Not only that but putting a northern loop as a B and not even listing a southern loop is mind-numbingly ridiculous.

That would've made so much more sense. I've given up trying to understand the roads here though. I just do whatever I can to avoid Louisville these days.

I'm hoping President Trump's infrastructure plan can put some teeth into this list. It's great we actually have a president who is interested in fixing our shitty neglected infrastructure.

Navigating the Veterans Overpass with that canal stuck in there is going to be a challenge. That's why it hasn't been done yet.

Honestly, they made to consider converting the canal to a underground culvert, and putting the interstate at-grade. Have Veterans overpass the interstate there.

It's clear to see that more was planned for the southern end of I-310 where it now terminates at US-90 in Boutte. As you can see HERE, the ramps to cross US-90 were begun and remain unfinished here. The wetlands south of Luling & Boutte killed the southern expressway to New Orleans. It looks as though now they may finally get put to use if they can ever get the I-49 project this far east.

Personally, I'm intrigued by the desired extensions to the Earhart expressway all the way out to I-310. West of Hickory, I have no idea where they would build this unless it were an elevated roadway sharing the railroad right of way....or else they'd have to buy out a ton of property owners.

Is the new BR bridge supposed to be part of the interstate system? If not, put a toll on it long enough to pay for the construction cost just like they did for the CCC bridge in NOLA...and have the toll expire once the bridge is paid for.

Interesting...never noticed the partially started ramps at the 90-310 interchange. Seems as if they could've avoided the wetlands all together by just upgrading Hwy 90 to interstate freeway all the way to the current elevated WB Expressway and extend that freeway to the east and build the bridge to Chalmette to connect 310 to 510 that way if they were so worried about disrupting the wetlands south of Luling/Boutte.

There's a pretty wide servitude along almost all of Airline (eastbound lanes side) between Hickory and Williams Blvd. Not sure if its quite wide enough for a freeway to be built, but would cut down on how much property they'd have to buy out.

The backlog happened because the money needed for road improvement was diverted to go elsewhere. You can thank Jindal for a good bit of that. Don't even get me started on the lack of money for road maintenance.

THERE IS NO LACK OF MONEY FOR MAINTENANCE OR ANYTHING ELSE!

And while I think its great that you want to blame Jindal for every ill in the world, this shite goes back way before Bobby took office. You think these roads turned to shite in 8 years? Not hardly.
We were told years ago that the gas tax would cure all of our ills. We'd fund every project and maintain every inch of pavement. Well we got fricked. Hard and dry.
Not another penny for any of this shite. Make it happen on what you got. The rest of us manage to every month in our own households.

I agree with you that the government has strongly mishandled this money and it shouldn't have ever been diverted for anything else. However, over the years the gas tax becomes less and less valuable with more fuel efficient vehicles. Eventually there will need to be an alternate source of income dedicated to road projects instead of constantly raising a gas tax.

Maybe, but you would have had to deal with pushback from all of the businesses along 90. It's part of the reason that the I-49 project is taking so long. I'm still not sure they've completely settled on the path through which that roadway will travel.

There is a similar abrupt end of roadway at I220 and I20 in Bossier City. LINK

I guess I220 was supposed to go somewhere further south, though not sure how they were planning to accomplish that with Barksdale there.

I find these interesting. More lost exits exist in NOLA East. LINK
