210 bridge upgrades are happening next year. Once those are complete I-10 bridge will be torn down and replaced.

Will never happen. This bridge has been discussed for over 30 years. Monroe and WM will never come together to decide where to put it.

So this administration isn't going to do anything to alleviate bridge traffic. WTF. A new bridge should be priority A. It's fricking bullshite that it's not the first project to be addressed. Traffic in this city is abysmal. What complete and total lack of leadership from the governor on this.

Perfect. It will take another 5 years for design/approval and at least 10 for construction, before they have to do it over again because someone messed up.

Interesting....had no idea that there was ever any plans for extending I-510 freeway through Chalmette and building a bridge to connect to WB Expressway.

Would have been I-410.

I mean I don't think it's really needed. Between interstate Louisville and downtown bridges I don't see why they would need this.

I wouldn't say "nothing" will happen. Matter of fact, a 50+ million dollar I-10 interchange is already planned where Pecue passes over I-10. That's right, that 2 mile stretch of I10 between siegan and highland is getting an on-ramp/off-ramp. Now, let's forget about the absolute dire need for any improvements at LA-1 or Miss River bridge. The geniuses at LADOTD are going to instead waste $50+ million on an off ramp between 2 existing off ramps that lie within a mile of each other, and completely ignore the need for off ramps/interchanges past highland that feed directly into Prairieville. That's where all the traffic backs up. It backs up I10 East at highland road because people are trying to get to P'Ville. All this will do will cause the traffic to now stack up on Pecue, and Highland, and make Airline from Pecue to P'ville and even greater parking lot at 5 pm.

With the growth of Sterlington, there needs to be a bridge north of Monroe. Imagine how that would free up the cluster on Hwy165 if everyone going to WM didn't have to go all the way down to i20.

Projects like this one and the Tram are driven by the developers who need the state to make improvements so they can make money.

Yes Pecue comes before improving I-10 through BR because it makes the right people money. Other projects fall behind because of this type of thinking.

That makes sense. That does throw up a good question as to where they would put that though

Would love to see it connect somehow to the north end of the Kansas lane extension project. I actually think that will be the next phase of that project. What's going to make that hard is from 165 to the river is all small lakes and marsh land.

Of course we will all be dead and gone before that happens.

But none of this is going to happen. The state will take the money for healthcare (Medicare) expenses or something else. They've been doing this for decades. Why do you think there is billions in backlog work now? We've been paying taxes for this. The state just doesn't do anything.

The backlog happened because the money needed for road improvement was diverted to go elsewhere. You can thank Jindal for a good bit of that. Don't even get me started on the lack of money for road maintenance.

The original plan decades ago was for 310 and 510 to connect with the westbank expressway (910) to form a southern loop

And of course Louisiana politics probably derailed it...

So much traffic would be alleviated by the CCC and downtown had a southern loop like that ever been built. And St Charles Parish would have exploded in growth.

You know that the Kansas lane ext was supposed to connect to h165 at the Forsythe ext?

Now they are planning on having it come out somewhere around Centurylink. Not sure how they will accomplish that.
