Anyone know the criteria for a "probable" case.
Im pretty sure no one knows. It's one of their bullshite grey areas.
Imagine almost 40% of your cases simply being "probables" like yesterday's were. Ridiculous.

LDH is now counting the rapid Antigen test results in with their numbers. Asher has always backed those out, and just gone with the PCR results that are sent away and take a couple days to come back. The Antigen tests have a higher rate of false positives, so I assume he's trying to keep his data as realistic as possible

Gotcha. Thanks!

Masks don't work plus if you go anywhere in Baton Rouge, most are not masking at all.

it means you took an antigen test and not the PCR test
quote:
Probable cases include individuals with a positive test detecting SARS-CoV-2 antigens in a clinical specimen. Individuals initially identified as having a positive antigen test, who are later identified as having a positive confirmatory test will be removed from the probable case count and added to the confirmed case count.

Interesting, i figured it was much less scientific than that.

Louisiana Department of Health reports an increase of patients currently in the hospital due to COVID-19.
Does this mean LDH has the numbers that differentiate the "due to" from the "with" crowd?
Per LDH's website Hospitalizations on 9/14 was 1,521; 9/15 is 1,431.

No, it just means BRProud can't count.

Never looked into it, but I guess that explains why the "probable" number never gets confirmed or goes away. I originally assumed that at some point the probable would either be confirmed or rejected/removed.

Sounds like they just messed that up. It’s been trending down over 60 people per day for awhile now.

Likely has a lot to do with the facts in this article from The Atlantic

Our Most Reliable Pandemic Number Is Losing Meaning -
A new study suggests that almost half of those hospitalized with COVID-19 have mild or asymptomatic cases.

You realize I linked that in the OP, right?

That just means half of the hospitalizations aren't serious. It has no effect on the overall total, and would not factor in to the overall total dropping.

Thanks JBE.
His top notch leadership and constant dumb arse press conferences about covid is what helped this

Louisiana is really fricking up the current media narrative of the explosion of COViD cases due to those dangerous unvaccinated pieces of shite children going back to schools, grrrrr

Adding Ambrosia to the list
walked in Saturday, the lady asked if i wanted a mask. i said no.
then she said "we ask that you wear a mask in here"
I said "I'm not putting on a mask"
She said well, we ask that you step outside.
there was a woman at the counter with no mask. i asked why she didn't have to wear a mask. no reply. as i was walking out i asked again "why doesn't that lady have to wea a mask?" no answer.
assuming the lady in line knew someone who worked there.
