Updated daily positives through July 31 (it was through July 29 previously).

13.06% July 30 & 12.83% July 31. Trying to find downward adjustments for other days since there hasn't been 10%+ in almost 2 weeks. Having a hard time finding any downward adjustments. Naturally.

And what would you want to bet that JBE thinks that number is still way to high, dangerous and could overload the heath system?

Are you using the same math as JBE uses?

So seriously, regarding masks, this shite has to stop at some point, right? I refuse to live like I'm in China.

I've stayed home more than before since this mask mandate and saved money to boot.

Good. You'll be able to afford a few years worth of masks now.

What's the next goalpost?

They've already given it - positivity rate. In other words, they want to touch brains for people not sick or sick with something else. A completely useless goalpost.

Dr. Stefanski was on KPEL this morning. Said that Lafayette is still high but every metric is trending down right now.

The only thing I can think of is that LDH page is reporting restests of known positives in its percentage. The retests of known positives are not reported to the state as new cases if they're caught at this stage.

For instance:

Parish X runs 100 tests, 13 of which are positive. However, 4 of them are re-tests of people who had already tested positive.

The #New Cases, and #Tests than become 9 cases, 100 tests (or 9% positive) - and this is what we've been tracking (and should be, although actual 9/96 would probably be more prescriptive considering how we're using it - eliminate the known retests from both the numerator and the denominator).

However, the raw "% of tests positive" is 13%.

There is no plan of action for Louisiana. JBE keeps touting that we are following white house guidelines, but we are not. We aren't in phase 2 by any means, so he can cut that lie out too.

This state is literally throwing shite at the wall to see what stick.

Probably still need to get that % positive down.

5% is the next goal. If this trend continues, we may start to see that by the end of next week (my prediction). Only way I don't see us getting there is if there is a huge drop in tests processed (people stop getting tested).

The question will then remain, will JBE require xxx days below 5%, or the cumulative number to be below 5%, current cumulative is 8.55%

Would need around another 1.1M negative tests, at current case count, to get current total under 5%

Every day people make up a new edition of the running fantasy of "JBE will say ....." and folks seem to get so angry and riled up based upon the fantasy. But JBE never seems to say what people make up and attribute to him.

Perhaps those engaged in this daily fake outrage would live better, less stressful lives if you would live in the reality of what is actually said and done. It's a better way to live.
