There's now a tab on the LDH for deaths by race at the parish level.
Deaths in St. John the Baptist and St. Landry disproportionately white, should be looked into by a special task force.
The other side of the coin, Ascension:
Black: 23 deaths/29,000 people
White: 6 deaths/91,000 people

No, social distancing measures still need to be taken. The virus is highly contagious from large airborne droplets, and being close together for extended periods of time.
Keep your distance, wear masks when out in public, work from home where possible, wash your hands and sanitize your workspace every day.

Just be prepared for the Stimulus Bounce as Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s rush to blow the free money on electronics and hangout in Walmarks starts sending people to the hospital.

There are a lot of articles out there in the last day or so about how Sweden is doing. It is paying a tough price, but seems to be getting to the other side and on the cusp of herd immunity. The more I read, the more I think that they have it right.

It may or may not work out for them, but the inherent advantage that sweden has in terms of culture, which includes doing what the government says to do, when they say to do it, must be acknowledged.
The people on here talking about Sweden want their response, but they don't want any of the things that may allow that response to actually work.
The theme of not comparing ourselves to Italy was centered around Italian culture and people living in close quarters. Well American culture is wayyyyy closer to Italian than to Swedish.

Sweden's population is more likely to listen to the scientists and take precautions on their own while we got a bunch of fools who are more worried about Bill Gates and 5G towers than the actual threat at hand. We need mommy government to shut things down because the average Louisiana resident can barely wipe the drool off their own chin let alone make a risk assessment of whether or not they should be isolating.

So I understand in a round about way why they’re doing this for simplicity’s sake, but has it been mentioned if/how this will be revised in the future? Ie, are they swabbing corpses for future testing to get a more accurate figure, at least for COVID-19?

Understand the differences in culture, and it would definitely be harder for us. But the bottom line is that there is no getting past this without a large number of people getting infected. Sweden understands that. Their strategy is not to avoid infections. It is to achieve herd immunity. I am concerned that the American people are being misled to believe that if they just shelter in place longer (fill in your own date here) infections can be avoided. This isn't true. We can open next week, next month or two months from now. The result is going to be the same. The country needs to carry on.
