Where does Longview land on the OT scale of places to live?

On paper it looks solid. 81K population. Has all the stores and restaurants the average family would need, parks, healthcare options, seems pretty clean, infrastructure looks fine.

close to Tyler and Shreveport if Longview doesn’t have something you need.
DFW is 2 hours away - close enough for a day trip.
BR is 4.5 hours - close enough for a long weekend trip for games.

Terrain isn’t ugly like other areas in Tx. rolling hills, forests and multiple lakes nearby. I would imagine the hunting is decent also.

Lived there for two years right outta college (08 and 09)… was pretty miserable honestly… but that may have been more to do with me.

Pizza King was probably the only redeeming quality

I have land in Tyler. If you have the ability to choose, choose Tyler.

The Longview area is a nice place to live. Good quality of life and crime is not bad.
Many of the comments here come from Tards. If they pan the Longview area, ask them where THEY live. Lots of NO, BR, Alex. New Iberia, etc who cannot throw rocks at anybody outside of Gaza...

Probably was miserable as a new college grad. I would think its a good place to raise a family.

Paw Paw Neck lived on 26 acres in the hills outside of Longview. Loved visiting him. Like you said, the city has everything you need to raise a family and you are within a couple hours of most outdoor activities.

If you got a family its great. If you are single, then it might not appeal to you. If you are into fresh water fishing you will be in love

No offense to the single OT gents but no single dude is on the OT starting threads asking if places like Longview are good to live.

Longview is like a smaller Shreveport that is not as ghetto with less to do. Tyler is like Shreveport if it was nice and without the casinos.

I too would rather live in Tyler. Nicer, more to do, better schools, better people. Longview is a fine place though. It’s almost like midland and Odessa but both places are nicer than their west texas counterparts (IMO)

If you’re looking in East Texas….think Tyler area. It has a lot more going on & much nicer.

Tyler has more stuff to do, is better developed, and is generally nicer.

I'd look into living in Whitehouse before looking at Longview as well.
