This board has returned a tailgate trailer, boat (pontoon maybe), aided abandoned dogs, on the front end of bringing a murderer to light. And rallyed around several members for health and other reasons. Don't misunderestimate the power of the OT.

Don’t forget the guy that found some poster’s dead dog on Burbank and even cleaned it up before returning it.

you should do/can you do, something to the tune of Edmund Fitzgerald

I saw you post that you didn’t even realize your last one was to the Fitzgerald tune, and then you went back and tweaked it when someone mentioned that. Is that “requested”?

That’s what I hate about auto insurance. Penalized if you don’t have it and penalized if you use it.

Forgot about that sad day. One poster tried to find his missing dog and another who found the dog after being hit took the effort to make the situation better.

The OT comes through more than it causes trouble.

So, the troopers are going to handle this, or do they want the OT to get this one?

Was your son at fault? If not, it shouldn’t be considered a chargeable accident. Granted, when I left insurance they had found a new “system” to still rate someone as unlucky or prone to accidents that would increase the premium.

It also took into consideration your credit score, which they advised us to never let people know.

Does anyone in here believe that a 7000# vehicle can hit a 3500# vehicle at "close to 100mph" and either vehicle would still be driveable?

The damage to the Honda is significant, especially given the defletion in the C-pillar and roof, but that damage occurs at much less than 100, more likely 50-60mph.

Cops exaggerate speed all the time.

It’s not possible that the Honda was doing 70 and the truck was doing 100?

Absolutely.

But even then, there'd be a lot more damage.

I've been hit by a drunk driver in a Saturn, I was doing 65, I'd estimate him at 70ish. I was in a Jaguar F-Type coupe, so weights were approximately the same.

I was on the Causeway and it took all my skill to keep it gathered up.
My car was still driveable, as was his, but my damage was pretty significant, although not as bad as the Honda's, obviously

File the claim. A non-at-fault loss isn’t making your insurance go up. You’ll be out your deductible for collision unless you had uninsured property damage coverage

You should be looking for court dates, not booking.

He can be charged, and convicted without spending a day in jail.

(He’s not on there btw)

Might I suggest a quick visit to 'The Rant', to reset the ridiculous meter?

I believe it.
As someone who drives that stretch of I-10 at 530-6am with the "plant traffic", I can assure y'all that trucks going 100mph isn't uncommon at all.

I saw that on their page as well. A little unnerving as something happened to their friend recently that didn't have a good outcome

Physics tells us:

Mass(duelly) x speed - Mass(car) x speed % coefficient of friction = damage

He wasn’t at fault. I was told by someone who worked in insurance that most companies increase rates when you file, regardless of the circumstances. I’ll call my agent tomorrow to verify this. I’d much prefer you to be correct.

I don’t know that there would necessarily be paint transfer if the truck’s bumper/grille is chrome, or if it had a brush guard. May want to also be looking for a truck with a missing grille or missing bumper pieces. Hood’s probably aluminum so would expect some significant damage is possible there, as well. It may help if they were able to recover debris. Glad the young man’s OK.
