He speaks just like you'd expect a high school graduate who became sheriff in LP would speak.

From what I've heard, the cupcakes story is false. The kids at that school were asked about it and answered that the teacher had never brought cupcakes to school

Don't wanna be accused of propagating rumors, but unfortunately that story doesn't appear to be entirely dead just yet.

I felt like the press conference was a bad scene from the Jimmy Swaggart school of acting. It is apparent that Ard is so far in over his head because there is more to this story. I really don’t think he will enjoy being called as a witness in the trials that are to come. His family will fair worse. This often breaks up families.

The least he deserves. How many more kids will speak up now the case has been blown open. This is just getting started and Ard deserves to be in a cell right next to the Pedo.

1. I wonder how many people were steered to verbally discuss complaints with someone at LPSO instead of filing formal complaints or thought they were filing a formal complaint when they were just talking with someone? That's how you make sure it doesn't go into people files, it does't reflect negatively on your department, it's not discoverable, you don't have to do a lot of follow up work and in the rare case it's ever brought up again, you are in the clear. It's all about maintaining plausible deniability and when there are multiple issues that are brought up against one person, there's nothing in the file and there are somewhat plausible excuses for why nothing was ever done for each of the incidents, that's a big red flag folks.
If you set up an appointment with the Sheriff to discuss a complaint you have about an employee of his agency and that doesn't meet the hurdle of a "formal complaint", I wonder what does? I think something stinks here and I think you are correct.

This may deserve its own thread, but why do people in LP say "We was"? or similar subject verb disagreement?

Well, that's covered in day 1 of the Jason Ard School of Investigations.
The formal complaint filing process starts with a verbal filing of said complaint. Then a verbal investigation takes place. Then one of your deputies is arrest for raping kids when another agency conducts a real investigation.
LSP should be looked at too, IMO.

Because its apparent that at some point in their lives, they was.

For what? Even the step father said nothing illegal happened, just inappropriate

LSP interviewed that officer the week Perkins was arrested. Troopers say the officer admitted he did not think an actual crime had been committed, but that a counselor told him at the time she believed Perkins was “grooming” her for potential inappropriate behavior in the future.

LSP officials said Wednesday they have now closed their investigation into that 2013 incident, having found no criminal misconduct.
Please don’t think this is me taking up for Ard or Perkins, I don’t understand why the media is harping on something that while highly inappropriate & extremely creepy wasn’t criminal
They need to start digging into the planted meth story again, seems to be the easiest way to take Ard & other higher ups down

You have totally missed the point of this. The issue is that a red flag the size of Texas popped up (probably not the only one in this guys past) and no one, including the actual head of law enforcement, and this guys buddy/family, did SHITE about it. I doubt many really care whether or not it was criminal.

Pretty much.
There are a number of incidents in Le Baw’s last that should have ended up in his file yet nothing of the sort ended up in there.
And as was suggested upthread, I’m sure all those guys standing behind Ard in the presser have empty files too.
Intentional frickery to keep anything from being actually recorded when legitimate incidents have been brought up (ex - restraining order) show that Ard has been gaming the system to cover for his guys. It just caught him BIG TIME because one of them got caught by a bigger agency doing heinous shite.

I'm sure Ard put plenty of verbal complaints in there. It's likely that by now they've all escaped after HR opened and closed the file so many times this past week. Shame.

quote:It was terrible. He did so much deflecting, and it was painfully transparent. The whole BS about "identifying the victim" made him sound like a child. As someone else pointed out earlier, if no crime was committed, then there couldn't have been a "victim". Can't understand how you go into a presser that unprepared. What an idiot. I'm glad Nak roasted him with his commentary in response.

Very true
While not criminal there should have been something in his file about the complaint
Along with the restraining order no one knew about until this happened
Ard was in over his head when he took the job & he did himself no favors yesterday
