Exactly. I can't really articulate why I love Baton Rouge, except that it feels like "home". I still feel a little awe when I see Tiger Stadium from the bridge, or walk around campus with the azaleas in bloom. I am very happy here.

I prefer Baton Rouge to New Orleans because I can afford to keep a horse here

Blue Bayou is a LEGIT Regional Destination Park.

Went to Liberty Lagoon last year as well. Was definitely a better picture in real life than the OT painted for me.

I'm not even mad at BR. I just feel sorry for the city.
I feel sorry for the people who live there, but I'm still mad about having to drive through that shithole on the way to the good parts of Louisiana; the traffic in BR is insufferable.

Good Lebanese food.

A walkable city

a lot of nice urban neighborhoods.

Street names tend to change a lot to keep things fresh.

(all i got)

I would saw a cool tiger enclosure, but no tiger....

Perhaps this would make sense if you're an outdoorsmen type. It is otherwise one of the most depressing small cites I've been around the many times that I have when I visit a family member nearby.

Dont feel sorry for us.

We're all here because the money is good.

BR has a lot of opportunity.

It's honestly not that bad. I've lived here since graduating LSU in 2006. My house is nice and my subdivision is nice and quiet with good neighbors.

Baton Rouge's culinary scene is on the upswing with several good places to eat and some specialty shops in the city. The city tries to put on festivals and activities. Surprised it doesn't have one major festival every year.

Crime in the city is contained to three areas that you have no business going into unless you are looking for trouble. Unlike New Orleans, where it is spread throughout.

The traffic sucks. The Tigers are awesome. A beautiful day in spring is hard to beat, and a crisp evening in the fall is wonderful.

Most of my family and friends live in New Orleans and they are a quick hour drive away. Same with Lafayette.

BR isn't perfect, but it's not bad.

Every morning I hear a commercial on the radio touting BR as this wonderful place. Near the end, this woman makes a comment about the "uniqueness and culture that is the red stick". I've said it a few times to myself and I'll go ahead and say it here.

Give me some POSITIVE unique features and cultural aspects of Baton Rouge.

Depressing? I mean, I could see that if we were talking about Ferriday, but I just don't get it for A-Town.

Look, BR has terrible traffic. But people criticizing the traffic from Houston.....New Orleans....Lafayette....bwahahahahaha. Traffic is pretty terrible in a lot of places.

BR does have a terrible mayor.....But New Orleans, on the other hand, with Landrieu.......bwahahahahaha.....

I'm probably on my way out of the big BR, for the first time in my life. It's changed. Some things suck. But listening to people bash it for the reasons they do make me chuckle.

And Peej, you only hate BR because you hate the blacks. Well guess what??? They're coming to your trailer park soon. Look around, son.

Dutch Highlands and 1700s immigrants/settlers' influence on the early development of BR suburbs.

The development of Spanish Town(Spanish settlers who left Galveztown as it was dwindling/failing due to floods and disease). It didn't just become Spanish Town in the 80s b/c gays and flamingos.

It might seem that way based on reading the OT... but in reality, it's really not bad at all.
