when i visited the yankee half of my family in Rhode Island a decade ago i was constantly in shock/fear

Well, looking at the line up one sees a zydeco band playing on 4/28 whose members (and maybe I'm wrong on this) appear to be black. There's also a black violinist playing in May. So evidently he didn't actually look at the line up.

I can totally understand that. Down here it's mostly just good Ol' boys who would probably stop and help you change a tire if you needed it. Rebel flag belt buckle and all.

Up there it's a different animal. Because the media tells them it's the most racist thing in the world, that's what they take it as. And they mean it.


I have long said Yankees are far more racist than most normal southern boys.

No doubt it WILL happen. And here's how it will go....

The Mayor will force the organizers to have "black bands" (not the "black bands" already playing such as the zydeco group), but a bands such as "Jagged Edge" and the like (i.e. washed up R&B groups from the 90's early '00's)

That will start to change the demographics of the crowd. One that happens, shite like this will happen...

The business owners downtown won't support it any longer. And it will become nothing more than a event where trouble will more and more commonplace. Eventually causing the city to put an end to it.

I don't know if the event in BR is not funded as well or what, but the Lafayette Square music is a great mix of all kinds of music and the events are very well attended. Lots of smoking talent out there as well.

That's what scared me. They aren't descendants of Confederate soldiers, so they are only wearing it for that purpose.

Does anyone know if he has ever attended a Live after 5? Is it possible Live after 5 is catering to the crowd it attracts? He looks for anything to try to stir up some trouble.
