Why the need to knock down his door in the dark?
Because he probably had information that would get someone bigger in trouble. So they needed to maximize the probability of the outcome they wanted. Which is the outcome we're reading about now.
Whatever he actually did or didn't do won't matter anymore. We're only going to find out what they want us to think he did, and that he was the mastermind, and there's no need to worry about who may have been pulling his strings.

Just a hunch, but one thing ATF seems to be focused on lately is the abuse of the privileges law enforcement has around fully automatic weapons. This guy's job would likely have made him sort of adjacent to law enforcement. He may even have been line manager for law enforcement.
None of this justifies what the ATF did or even its existence. Just speculating.

It's evidently a very toxic culture.
You can see it in their eyes. Men who hate what theyre doing.
But it pays well and has awesome benefits.

ITS STILL DARK.
Sunrise was 7:11 in Little Rock this morning. The article said the raid took place a little after 6a.
Also possible (probable) that LE was still there went the sun went down.

IF this is the scenario, "shootout" is a bad terminology to use.
It's inaccurate, sure, but it's a great term to use if you're trying to make the guy who was raided look like more of a baddie.

I admit I and most everyone have too much to live for and would likely not have a successful outcome. Therefore, I cannot see myself making a stand.
I totally understand your thinking and I used to be that way. But not anymore.
I love my life and freedoms. I live a great life. Seriously, I probably have one of the best situations ever. I'm not OT rich, but what we have, I worked for and I don't owe anyone a penny nor a second of my time.
I have come so accustomed to my freedoms and my current way of life that I am not willing to give away one inch of it.

he sure doesn't strike me as a guy who would get into a shootout with feds.....strange story

The whole point is if you're going to get into a shootout with LEO, just blow your brains out instead.

I'll take that into consideration, counselor.

Firefighters also used the jaws of life, so I’m guessing whatever was in his safe, is what they are looking for.
I'm trying to withhold judgment till we know what they were looking for, but am strongly leaning towards:
Screw those firefighters for helping the ATF.

I'm surprised they didn't have one there entering the premises with no warrant "in pursuit of illegal game".. Might have had an extra mallard in the freezer..

these motherfrickers have to always show up at this time?
To be fair, normally it’s earlier. After your lawyer has already negotiated a time/place to turn yourself in. And they love having news crews present.
Look at what the FBI did to Roger Stone. Think they had 17 agents present, not including those who were in multiple assault boats equipped with .50 cals.

the 'jaws of life' thing is just bizarre to me.
was this guy married?
could they have simply asked his wife to open the safe?
are there no 'residential grade' gun safe locksmiths in AR?
we all know this ain't about 'alcohol' or 'tobacco' so clearly the story is going to involve some type of illegal weapon found on the premises which as we all know with all the rules these days could be just about anything.

He’s married.
I looked up both of them on the court dockets website. They both only have a couple of traffic violations. He had a law suit against a neighbor due to him thinking they put the mailbox on his land.
He lost that suit.

If they were already watching this guy (clearly they were) and given he was a pillar of the community, they couldn't just approach him at work?
Very similar to the old man who allegedly sent a threat to Biden.
They set up surveillance, watched him for a couple of months. They knew his exact schedule, when he went to church, shopping, etc.
They could’ve stopped him in his yard by poking a stick into his wheelchair spokes or taking his crutches away.
Nope. I’ve known a couple of SWAT guys for years, neither served in the military, both like playing dress up in combat uniforms, and, like Tackleberry from the Police Academy movies, they only want to shoot someone.

Sounds like that happened, one way or another.
