For my next vehicle I want to get a lighter color because of the heat and every tiny scratch or imperfection stands out on black paint.
I’m thinking silver because I don’t like white.

Having owned a black vehicle once before I’d never own another dark colored vehicle again as a daily driver.
In addition to the heat, they are darn near impossible to keep clean. I swear you wash them and they look dirty an hour later.
I like silver or white. There are some pretty cool looking pearl white colors out there too.

At work, we bounced thermometer scans off dashboards last summer. White vehicles were around 110-120 degrees. Black vehicles were 150-160 degrees.
I don't remember what it was but my company had some type of can blow up that was left on the dashboard of a truck a couple of summers ago.

I dont think thats true. My trucks have always looked clean.

Went with ceramic with the maximum heat rejection possible. Even did the windshield with a nearly clear film. It'll change your life and save your interior.
What is this ceramic tint you speak of?

It’s a free country but dark or black colors just show dirt more than lighter colors.
I guess if you wash your truck every other day you could certainly mitigate that.

Once every two weeks with pressure washer.

Firmly in the White exterior/tan interior camp.
Light is right. Idk how yall sit on that hot arse black leather. Cloth isn't that big of a difference.

It has the highest heat rejection. Works very well.

I went with white this time because scratches and swirls show up less and so does white bird shite.
Only thing i avoid for hot weather is leather. frick all that. And i cant believe people have cars that the entire interior is black with black leather seats.

No doubt about that. I was offered $15K off a Lamarie. But its white.
For a $15K savings you could get white and paint it black.

I have a black truck. It gets hot, but it also has a back window that rolls down. I can roll that window down, lower the front windows and the air in the cabin turns over in no time. Then the AC takes over. Not really a problem.

I do the same, except I use the moonroof and back window. I think moonroof and electric back window is going to be a must on all my vehicles going forward. It's especially nice in the spring and fall.

dark colors, and especially black, require 10xs more body work before painting because they will show every imperfection.
i have owned 3 white vehicles and 2 silver ones, and i can tell you from experience that the idea that light colored cars show dirt more is a lie, whites and silvers can be dirty as shite, and you cant even tell, until you rub a clean spot on them, only then do you notice it
also yes its true that dark colors get twice as hot. a black car sitting in the sun gets so hot you cant hardly touch it but for a second before it burns you, while white or silver gets hot too, but you can still hold your hand to it without it burning you.
also get cloth seats, vinyl or leather seats will burn the shite out of you in the summer and if you have shorts on you cant even sit on them. i used to keep a beach towel in my truck with leather seats so i didnt have to let the a/c run for a while just so i could get in the damn thing

Lighter colors dont show dirt and pollen as bad as a dark color.

XPEL prime - keeps my car shockingly cool on the inside during peak summer.

White cars and trucks look like work vehicles. Slap a magnet on the side and it’s a company truck.
Black trucks make no mistake.

Got outside when 100 with white T-shirt and then a black one. You definitely feel the difference. Don’t let anyone fool you. From auto trader:
When we took one inky black car, and it’s a snow-white match, and let them heat up in the fiery Georgia sun. A couple of hours later, we took a gander at the temperature inside the car, and yep, the numbers don’t lie: the cabin of the black car came in at a sweltering 130 degrees, while the white car’s interior was a still hot (not skin-searing) 113 degrees.
Look it up yourself - plenty of articles.

My body shop confirms after fixing a minor fender bender on our black Tahoe.
Once asked an old upholstery tech who works on high end dealer owned cars that needed work which he preferred, leather or cloth. Without hesitation he said cloth and would never own leather in his vehicles. Said cloth is cooler, easier to repair and more stain resistant with modern fabrics.
Checkout the cloth seats in newer model Toyota Highlander’s, very nice.
