Light colored trucks…bought a dark z71 today

Buying a truck. Narrowed it down to Z71 and a Bighorn. Dealers keep pushing white and light colors "they dont retain heat". Being from LA this seems complete BS. In August your truck is either 98 or 97 depending on the color. No difference. Am I wrong in this logic?
EDIT: Apparently its true. Thought it was an exaggeration of the truth.

Drive through Phoenix and see how many black cars you see vs light colored.

A white truck still gets hot when it’s 100+ outside. Don’t listen to their BS and get what you want. They’re probably pushing white because they’re overloaded with them and need to get them off the lot.

I have and it doesnt seem to make a huge difference. A degree or two during August. Still HOT!

No doubt about that. I was offered $15K off a Lamarie. But its white.

I had a black truck before my current oxford white one. It's hard to tell a difference when it's 100 degrees outside but on 70 and 80 degree days you could definitely tell and it also seems to cool down quicker.

Thats fair. I am just thinking about the 100 degree LA days. Everyone knows what I am talking about. Didn't think about the spring 80 degree days.

nailed it
But I will never own a dark-colored vehicle again if I can help it. White or silver paint is so much easier to care for.

When we took one inky black car, and it’s a snow-white match, and let them heat up in the fiery Georgia sun. A couple of hours later, we took a gander at the temperature inside the car, and yep, the numbers don’t lie: the cabin of the black car came in at a sweltering 130 degrees, while the white car’s interior was a still hot (not skin-searing) 113 degrees. While the cars were still warm, we flipped the question and wondered, which one cools faster than the other, when the AC is running full blast? Will a white car cool faster than a black one? We took our trusty thermometer and found that the interior of the white car dropped to 84 degrees after 10 minutes, while the black car cooled off a little, but still comes in at stifling 91 degrees.
It makes a difference but both the vehicles got hot as shite in a couple of hours.

All I know is that I was in Kansas City this weekend and saw very few white vehicles. Meanwhile in Louisiana it seems like every other vehicle is white.

Buy what color you want unless they are offering a smoking deal or you need a truck and can’t wait for the color you want.
Don’t buy a vehicle based off of cooling off faster that’s fricking retarted.

At work, we bounced thermometer scans off dashboards last summer. White vehicles were around 110-120 degrees. Black vehicles were 150-160 degrees.

Of course not. I was just wondering why dealers are pushing something so hard. I like the dark ash in chevy and the Dodge black.

That is a big difference.

I thought it was less of a difference then this but this is also only one test. I would still get the color I want.

Many drivers believe that black cars are hotter in the sun and white cars keep cooler. Since our dealership resides in Arizona, we actually hear this all the time at LeSueur Car Company
Essentially, Auto Trader took two nearly identical vehicles, one white and one black, and let them bake in the hot sun. When they measured the interior temperature after a few hours, they discovered the theory rang true. The black car's cabin measured a scorching 130 degrees Fahrenheit, while the white car's interior registered only 113 degrees.
They also decided to try answering a different question: Which one cools down faster once the air conditioning is cranked? Once again, they broke out the thermometer and discovered that the interior of the white car cooled to 84 degrees after 10 minutes, while the black car was still at 91 degrees.

Science says the dealer is correct.
Also, you can usually get a better deal on white/grey/silver vehicles.

Yep, I had a customer whose painters were driving cars straight out of the parking lot into the paint booths. They were wondering why the paint was drying so quickly and with lots of orange peel.
The metal temps on some of those dark cars were bumping 200 degrees. The paint was drying as soon as it hit the surface.

The last 6 cars I have owned have all been dark colored cars. I have never had an issue with temperature.
During the summer in South LA, I put windows down for a 10-20 seconds or crack sunroof. put A/C on max and it's fine in 60 seconds.
Doesn't matter what color your car is, you have to vent the heat.

My concern with light colored vehicles is they tend to blend in with the concrete. Makes it hard to see them sometimes.
I have always owned a red truck and now GM wants to charge extra for red paint.
