How long would that be?

Very few people over 55. We need breeding stock.
Though it will be all the billionaires first.

I’d say pick men ages 15-55. All relatively healthy and strong and can reproduce. Women ages 12-35.
Why the frick would you keep a man over 35? No one over 30. You need the greatest chance at survival of a species. 55 is too old.

Just use the ObamaCare Death Panel criteria already in place…
Keeps it simple, although it would take another $1B and two years to get the web site title changed over from HEALTHCARE to ASTROID SURVIVAL…

With a million people, you don’t have to worry overly much about repopulating the world. A million people is more than enough as a population base to eventually organically replenish numbers. So considerations along those lines are probably missing the mark—if there were only 1000 people being saved then that becomes a much higher priority.
You want to prioritize intelligence, as any civilization capable of surviving an asteroid collision via underground bunker will almost certainly need lots of smart people to keep it functioning. You’d want to pick from a fairly wide array of skills-based professions. (Sadly for me, ‘softer’ professions like law are SOL here; while there is some value in them, their core functions can be counterfeited without losing too much, whereas losing a certain brand of engineering might mean a vital discipline is just gone forever, or else gone for a very long time.)
You most certainly exclude the elderly and infirm from the shelter. Even with a million people, you still end up leaving most able-bodied workers behind; you can’t afford to exacerbate that further.
And while you might want to do a partially randomized lottery within, for instance, the professions you’ve selected for saving, under no circumstances should you just leave this to chance.

Love how "world leaders" get to survive - since a lot of them are old.
You need some medical professionals, pharmacists, engineers, a lot of skilled tradesmen, farmers and laborers. "White collars" should comprise no more than 20%. Also, should be no more than 45% women.
