Just go unscrew the plate from another trailer.
No one ever actually checks those things. That's probably what happened to yours.

You're fine. Also, don't worry about hooking up brake lights. The ones on your vehicle doing the towing should suffice.

You will most likely get stopped and detained for 10 hours.
You will have your butthole cavity checked for drugs and your trailer taken apart to make sure you aren't transporting drugs.
After nothing is found, you will be apologized to and sent on your way.
So yeah, I would say chance it. Makes for a fun adventure

I drove for a really really long time without a license plate on my trailer and never got stopped. I even got a pulled over a couple of times and even though the plate was in my truck they never noticed/asked. I pulled that trailer almost everyday for three years and never got messed with. You should be fine.

Sure just tape a piece of cardboard to the plate holder with "Lisens apply for" and you're good.

This. Also to add was even involved in a couple of accidents and also pulled over at an inspection checkpoint and was never asked anything about it. See trash pulling homemade half arse pieced togther trailers with broken axles, no lights, and much less a plate all time.

You are supposed to have a plate with up to date tags on it. The trailer lights are supposed to work properly. The tow vehicle lights alone are not enough. If you are pulled over you can (and probably will) be ticketed for any violations that the trailer may have. Towing a trailer without it operating properly is a risk-you need to realize this. Go to the DMV and get it taken care of. You need to have an up to date registration for the trailer also. This can all be done at the DMV. I know it's a pain but it's better than the alternative.

happened to me too. I think someone took it as it was a permanent plate. Now I just switch plates off my other trailer when I need to go anywhere.
