How miserable would she be in Starkville? Shes an architecture professor of some sort and would be on tenured track. She is a progressive who is working on some gentrification thesis or something here in Portland. I genuinely like her but kind of cant help but laugh at the idea of her woke politics in Starkville, MS.

Is there more in Starkville and the surrounding environs than I am aware of? Any advice to give her? She is still hoping to get a tenure track offer from two other schools but Moo State came back first

Encourage her to take the leap of faith, then reality will slap her in the face with encouragement

She's doesn't care where she goes as long as they give her tenure, so she doesn't have to work anymore? Sounds about right.

She will have some like minded professors around her, but any west coast person will struggle in Starkville

Meh every college campus in the country has a bunch of that type except for a select few. Certainly every public school.

I feel like every liberal professor should be tenured in North Mississippi.

Sounds like a great idea for a rom-com. Stuffy lib professor meets a baw from Starkville - hilarity and sexual sparks ensue.

Almost any college now will be left leaning. They’ve been drifting that way for decades.

They just hired a professor from the Pacific Northwest area. I’m not sure about his political beliefs.

"Woke" folks don't seem to do very well in the Deep South outside a few select cities. They find out quickly they're as prejudiced as anyone else.

The Idea of diversity is much more comfortable from afar than it is to actually live it.

hell, the culture clash would be epic...

is Doc Vogelsong still living in the area? That would be an interesting introduction!!!

maybe she could study gentrification in Starkville!!!

Being a miserable person would be the problem. Not Starkville.

All universities are filled with liberal staff.

And in the towns they create little enclaves for themselves to be smug and snooty. She'll do fine.
