I stop at the joes in Beaumont along the interstate once in a while. It’s usually fairly busy and the food isn’t bad. It’s not fantastic, but the steamed shrimp and crab are decent. You get what you pay for I suppose.
But I’ve been in some that I’ve walked right out because of the smell alone. They are definitely hit or miss.

It's still ok south of I-12 but certainly not what it once was. Imagine opening an Albertsons at Florida and Sherwood or a Sports Authority across from the section 8 projects now.

I can’t imagine living in a coastal state and choosing to go to Joe’s Crab Shack or Red Lobster. Those places were created for midwestern folks without access to fairly priced fresh seafood.

If I may rant for just a bit, anyone who eats at Joe Crab shack is a whore, a whore to China, a whore to Vietnam, a whore to Thailand, a whore to selling out. The US ships most of its high quality catch overseas, wild caught ground fish, shrimp, lobsters, you name it. We get chemical-laden aquacultured shite in return. Why? American consumers have the palette of a 10 year old.
That said, I love US aquaculture. We have regulations for what goes in to our products. I’ve been supporting aquaculture for many years at a large land grant university in the south. Further, I’m no staunch conservative by any means, but the regulations on US aquaculture are the most burdensome in the developed world. Try off-shore culture in the US. Ha! Good luck. You can’t. frick China, frick Vietnam, frick your juvenile palette, and frick anyone else that stands in the way of US aquaculture producers.
Buy farm raised catfish, buy gulf shrimp, get those crayfish and oysters, buy rainbow trout from Idaho, buy Maine lobsters if you can.

Ive never been either. I was wondering why they built it in the first place. It’s like a less fancy Joes Crab Shack.
