A couple years ago I woke up on a Sunday morning with the tv on after staying out late. A preacher was on tv ranting about how the ladies that go to his church don't need to dress in their gym attire at church

My daughter went to Catholic schools at which the students wore very modest uniforms, but their CYO dances and school parties were a very different story, where inappropriate mini-dresses, thigh high stockings and high heels prevailed. At the high school dances girls would wear sexy costumes, such as Wonder Woman, Super Girl, and Cat Woman. But at church for mass the next morning they were back in modest dress, as though the night before occurred in a parallel universe.

I absolutely believe the vast majority of regular church going people are sincere in the idea or belief of “bettering themselves”
