Its legal for them to do that in Colorado

What state are you in and is lane filtering legal? That is what that is called and is very legal and very safe in several states.
Meh. Very safe ? I dont think so. Is it safe when someone doesnt see the mother fricker splitting at a decent rate of speed when someone is trying to do a quick lane switch and doesnt see the fricker coming through? Tell me youre a reckless motorcycle RIDER [douche] without telling me

quote:you know lane splitting is legal in half the states and done by nearly everyone riding a motorcycle, including every motorcycle cop?
These two assholes (not together mind you) decide that it’s appropriate for them to go between all the cars right in the middle of the road and pass everybody

I spend 30 minutes in a vehicle a day on average and have probably 20 cycles pass me lane splitting, I’ve yet to have any issues and have yet to pass an accident involving a motorcycle.

Even worse is the 20somethings on crotch rockets doing 100+. I can’t tell you how many I’ve seen, here lately been a rash of riders “excessively speeding” who didn’t make it home.
It’s hard to feel sorry for someone doing stupid shite

A part of being a good motorcyclist is understanding that people are idiot drivers and you cannot trust that nobody will do anything stupid while you out riding. Most people in Colorado probably dont even know its legal

Always sports bike guys who do this.
Cruiser guys are the ones who get pissed if you pass them on another bike.

many states have laws written to allow motorcycles to pass in the middle during a sustained traffic stop. Got to do it carefully however.
SIAP, buttttt…
You have to maintain your distance, yield to traffic in front of you, and it’s also illegal to punch a car as you pass it on a motor bike.
So yea, f*ck that douchebag motorcyclist.

What’s to discuss. They will all soon be dead because of their reckless driving.

Plot twist:
OP was actually one of those 2 assholish motorcycle drivers.
OP is just jealous - he cannot stand seeing people have any advantage which he does not share, but would surely use - IF he could.
Having said that, I am not a fan of breaking the law and in Louisiana, lane sharing/splitting is not legal.
Even if it were, it should be done carefully.

Screw that….do something stupid around a 18 wheeler…. They can scrape your stupid butt off the pavement and bury you in your bike.
I don’t ride a motorcycle, so won’t be me.
I also don’t drive stupid 18wheelers.
In other words what I’m reading is, if you don’t drive stupid while driving a bike, you’ll have a much better chance of getting to where you’re going, instead of ending up dead? Makes sense, can agree.

Had a Harley passing cars using right-hand turn lanes the other day
When they use traffic as a rolling chicane, often at significantly higher speeds, I am not surprised when they became rolling speed bumps..
Like another poster said, you have to watch for them as too many do stupid things.
And what's with cruisers (esp HD riders) playing their stereos so loud over their straight pipes? what a racket....

They think they can just direct everyone on the road because their club has to stay together.
For years we did the local HD Toy Run for Tots in the Upstate. Not a club, just a bunch of people doing a charity ride for an organization. At major intersections people were “detailed” to pause traffic to allow the group, over 50 plus bikes, through to make the venture safer.
Can’t speak for others but it was always a nice gesture and usually appreciated by most in the area.
As for lane-splitting in stopped traffic, if legal I have no issue. If done on the highways/interstate, those that FA will FO

I got my drivers license there in the 90s and remember being surprised, studying for the test, that motorcycles were allowed to pass between cars. I’d assumed everything was illegal there.

I quit school to grow up a little before going back to school. Drove 18 wheels. You grow up fast on the road. Other than idiots on four wheels, saw plenty of bike victims because they believe they are invincible. Answers the question about Marines wanting a “A few good men” invincible and dumb as hell. Wrecked bike, tarp over road kill, meat scrappers on the way.

The real a-hole thing about them is that they burden their families. Its not a matter of "if" but when, on getting into a wreck. The "if" part is if you live or not, and what kind of injuries you sustain.
