Divorce rape is so bad, it almost makes more sense to get married after having your first baby. At least you know she’s serious.

Those sources seem a bit old. One from 2015?

This right here. In a span of about two months, I went from happily (or so I thought) married in a modest home to separated and handling mortgage/bills on my own and a kid on the way. I have very little wiggle room in my budget now.

They should show the opposite end: likelihood of being divorced from your first marriage by birth decade for the same data set.

I bet that’s grown similarly over time, until the lack of marriages started eating into it.

Maybe people are realizing they shouldn’t marry, rather than having failed marriage(s).

Younger people are getting smarter and realize how stupid marriage is.

My close friend group chat consists of 9 guys around 33-34
6 including myself are married, one has a baby on the way with his live in gf, so I assume a marriage proposal is soon, one is about to pop the question, and one will likely never get married.
5/6 married have children or have one on the way.

It’s different for us southerners and our culture.

I’m 30 and of my group chat of 8 guys, 7 are married, 6 have kids.

A ton of my wife’s friends are married with kids too.

Also for couples in their 30’s with no kids there is a high chance they had trouble conceiving. I know a lot of couple are having trouble these days

Kind of makes sense.

Not if you look at the chart and compare the percentages with the other birth decades. They are still far behind those birth decades at the same age.

I used to think that.

Not anymore.

The problem IMO isn't that people are getting married too soon.

It's that they aren't growing up nearly as fast (or at all, for that matter).

This country did a whole lot better when getting married at 18, 19, 20 was the norm. But those 20 year olds were more mature and grounded than 30 year olds today.

The sooner the better.

It's so stupid that there's never been a successful society in all of human history without it.

That's like saying that air and breathing is stupid.

It makes sense, I'm a 35 year old millenial. A lot of my peers got married between 22 and 28 and a good chunk are already divorced. A lot of millenial guys who got married in their 20's are swearing off a second marriage unlike their boomer male relatives who got married two, three, or even four times. You can recover quicker if you just screw up once in your late 20's or early 30's.

Also repeal alimony - Outside of an abusive marriage, if you choose to leave, you're on your own.

Repeal child support if they remarry - it's now the new husband's responsibility to provide. He knew you had kids going into the marriage. If the new husband can't provide the new wife, then they shouldn't have married.

I learned this recently on X (of all things) but the Soviets introduced them in an effort to destabilize society, and create a tabula rasa. They ended up walking back on no fault divorces because the consequences were such a disaster.

I like that, it will encourage women to stay married to their first husband.

my wife and I were born in the 90s and 30% of my wife and I’s friends being married is spot on. But 100% part of the reasoning is age. Some are engaged and most of them will be married at some point. No doubt some of my friends are complete idiots though and not sure if anyone will ever want to marry them

Exactly this.

My baby sis got engaged over the 4th of July and her and her fiance are both 90's babies. They are getting married in May of '26. She'll be 29.

No we wouldn’t. When a woman hits 30 her fertility starts dropping like a rock. Its why you see so many of these older women crying about failed IVF attempts. They waited too damn long to have a child. Demographics is destiny, and a people that doesn’t have children will be replaced by a people that do.
